I think this is a good move all round but I certainly think we need another player in who can play RCB as we are now left with Baldwin (no idea what his fitness situation is and he is an ongoing injury risk) and Pennington (only just coming back from injury) as the 2 players who are comfortable there plus Wright and Ashby as back ups.
For Byrne it's a good chance for minutes to get himself either a contract at Doncaster or another club in the summer, I do think he'll suit playing in a back 4 rather than being in a 3 where he spent most of the time effectively as a RB. Also for us it weakens Doncaster for Saturday as i would expect he won't be allowed to play with it being a loan so unless they get another CB in or one back from injury they will be back to playing Owen Bailey at CB.

I don't know what the terms of the loan are but hopefully frees up some money to go towards paying wages for a loan or permanent signing. But it doesn't make me feel it's like a new signing.

Say what you like about this window in terms of incomings (when it’s closed), but the transfer committee have been ruthless when it comes to those deemed surplus to requirements.

Yes, I’d like to have seen a striker in before Cook going out. But so far can’t argue too much with decisions made.

Agree with @Birky Bantam we’re light at RCB based on fitness so far of Baldwin and Pennington. That said, I’ve never felt comfortable Byrne been the replacement so it’s a hell of a deal done there!

Lapslie is going on a loan deal to Cheltenham .

Benn Ward from Accy has gone to Reading, City wouldn't pay what Accy were asking apparently Alexander is fuming with Sparks and Sharp because he made it clear he wanted him at any cost.
He obviously thought we could get a good sell on if someone came in from him ?.

£500k is a huge risk for a young league 2 defender in my opinion. I would prefer we spend that towards a decent striker
