Get what you're saying but don't forget the last time we pushed the boat out.. it got us to the Premiership but led to 2 administrations and over 2 decades of decline... If we really have a budget for this window it will be modest compared to the big money clubs but we really don't want to over extend ourselves buying players in January who we can't afford if we stay in League 1.

All things considered above, big earners off the books, increased attendences, cup runs, even small fees for Pattison and Young sell on, plus Rupp saying he will invest - you would think we can find £500-£750k to invest in a player or two.

Come on that was 26 years ago. Other clubs who have gone to the wall closer than us have bounced back Pompey, Coventry 2 really good examples. We can’t we, can’t blame something that happened 26 years ago as a reason to be scared of risk.

Said it 100s of times, the mentality of our fanbase is perplexing - but years of accepting mediocrity will do that to a man. I joked last week 1 or 2 on here would be delighted if we got £250k for Pointon....

Its not just social media, its even at VP. Ive heard the fans applauding a basic 50 yard cross ball that goes out of play....'good effort'

Started 26 years ago but didn't end until last year.

He replied to his post and said it was in hope. Stockport fans have said Connolly is not dominant in the air or very good on the ball, if that's the case, we may as just well keep Byrne. A stark contrast to Lincoln announcing the lad from Bromley, with their fans saying strong in the air, pacey and full of potential... depressing isn't it that we aren't looking at these players.

Maybe there's money in the bank so to speak but Rupp isn't gonna go out and spend it.. it's down to the recruitment team. Perhaps they have been unsuccessful in dealings or just haven't found the right players.
The best chance we have is to hope for a couple of quality loans.. 7 days to go.

Nope some rather we take us time builsd it up and be ready in 3 years time with no guarantee of it working rather than having a pop now.

Btw all these folk going on about the long term plan and building for the future surly thats gonna cost us anyhow if the whole aim is to be competitive should we get there ???????

Both Preston’s and Milwalls wage budget is £300,000 a week so about 15million a season. With both having similar in debt.
I have said before id love us to go up but you didn’t answer any of my questions.. do you think we could possibly survive? We don’t have the owners Preston and Milwall do to bankroll us and your comment on last season is ridiculous. We had a host of players who had played league one football. How many players do we have that have played in the championship?

And the scales are completely different. The Prem collapse was due to financing players on wages up to 40k a week, rivalling Man Utd’s decent players, when our crowds and income were a fraction of the best club in the land.

We might need to make someone our new highest earner but we can improve this squad without offering the silly money Hudds and Cardiff chuck about.

From google: “Several clubs have achieved back-to-back promotions through League One, often rising from the fourth tier (League Two) to the Championship in successive seasons. Recent examples include Wrexham (2023-2025), Luton Town (2017-2019), and Southampton (2010-2012), with Wrexham making history by achieving three successive promotions.”

do you think those clubs gave up on promotion in January because they were scared they might struggle? If you sign players that can develop and make the step up or have a budget like Wrexham’s, it can be been done.

How would Luton’s budget have compared to ours?

Yep, exactly, £500K-£750K on a couple of players as someone suggested wouldn't break the bank and I wouldn't consider that a 'risk' per se.

We have to take advantage of the huge momentum currently at the club and bring in more quality next week.

It seems like some people seem to think if we stay up this season somehow next season we will automatically be better. We could stay in this league and find ourselves in a relegation battle next season. Look how many years in L2 we were expected to smash it...then you don't do it, and apathy kicks in, support dwindles, and you are stuck in a rut. We got to the L2 playoffs against Carlisle in '23 and the season after 23/24 didn't. League positions are not banked.

What HAS happened to the wages saved on Cook, Patto, Richards, and Halliday....has that been spent on the 3 loans, soon to be 4 with the Man U player thats injured, and that is that? Ducking spending fees and gambling on short term loans.

Its a really poor showing from Rupp and the club if thats the case.
