Well for starters they've recently received approval to build their new state of the art stadium, which the club will own.

 

I love the fact that some fans think it’s just a matter of “being ready” for promotion and you can pick and choose when you go up a division.

How long do we stay in league 1 before we are “ready”?

1 season?
3 seasons?

How do we know we are ready?

You should grab every opportunity when it comes along as you can’t guarantee when it will come along again.

 

True about nearly every team in this league.

 

Fair point. But is a maximum 18 K capacity stratospheres above us?. I would argue not. IF Rupp or another investor buys VP and develops it we could easily be looking at 30K seating capacity.And that would likely cost a lot less than the guesstimated £130-£150 million needed to build a new stadium.

 

Significant USA sponsorship deal to come in the summer as well apparently. Would we rather spend the money that brings in having another go in league 1 next year or helping us to consolidate in the championship?

 

We have (or had, depending how you view it) momentum, GA, and what seemed like a good team spirit. All factors that helped keep us in playoffs so far.

individually we aren’t a top six side but collectively we are currently top six on merit.

I'm not accepting that we should be content with a pathetic slide into midtable or that we should accept garbage like today, just because we got credit in the bank up to now.

we were never gonna have the quality of Cardiff, Luton or Huddersfield with their huge budgets but we should expect to be better organised than today, at least having some shape and some semblance of a plan. We couldnt string two passes together until they had a man sent off.

i just hope the departures and the upheaval of squad churn mid season hasn’t damaged the team spirit in this side.

We’ve lost three big characters in Halliday, Patto and Cook. They were on the summer holiday after promotion and ive no doubt were key in the team building this pre-season, helping the new recruits settle in.

we now need Tilt, Power and the other experienced heads to step up and steady the ship.

We’ve not lost back to back games this season before today? Lets make sure its a one off. Couldn’t hope for a trickier game on Tuesday though. Eek.

If we do go up it's only right we should forfeit the opportunity to the next set of lads like they used to do on Bullseye with the 101 with 6 darts.

When the chance is there you grab it and worry about it when you get there .............honestly with this lot in charge does anyone think we are gonna bring championship players in to make sure we are ready should it happen ??????

 

So basically you are ok losing games and dropping down the table as you dont want promotion this year.

 

Can you imagine been 3rd in the Championship and reading the ssme sentiments about the Premier League.

I know bud deal with the problem should it rise or do folk on here think that we are gonna be signing championship players so we are ready for the championship should we get there ????
And if folk are thinking along the lines and thinks thats the way we are heading then why not start that build within this window ?????

Rupp got lucky that thousands stuck by his years of piss poor running of the club you think the same fans will happy if he shows no intent for at least having a go ?????

 

As a supporter of 60 years I, like many of you, have seen the highs and lows of being a Bradford city fan.
I've clapped and cheered, I've laughed and cried, I've left a game in euphoria, I've left a game in anger.
With City, and other clubs, that's what it's all about, isn't it?. emotions.
You get the promotions and the cup runs and you get the relegations and embarrassments.
But one thing you should never get is capitulation.
If I thought that my club intentionally scuttled a chance to get promotion I wouldn't support them anymore but it's preposterous to even consider such a thing.
As a supporter you ALWAYS expect the team and the club as a whole to strive to be better, especially when it's within reach. What's the point of treading water? Where is the excitement and ambition in that?.. you may as well be an Arsenal or Man City supporter if you want the status quo.

 

Is any promoted team ready for the division above or do they pack the squad with reinforcements?

We got promoted from L2, clearly the squad wasnt L1 ready so we added 10 players. Players who started yesterday only Walker, Baldwin and Bobby were with us in L2. You just try to evolve eh.

 

I think we'll be able to say with more certainty in just over a weeks time if there's an intentional plan to sabotage a promotion push or not. The aim of any transfer window is to come out of it stronger than when you go in and at the moment, there is a hell of a lot of work still to do to make that the case.
We've let players go who although for one reason or another weren't getting much game time, would still have been better options yesterday than what we had, and we still have a lot of players in the squad who are just not good enough.
On first impressions, the 3 we've brought in on loan so far don't really look to be a step up on anything we've already got and on paper at least, the 19 year old lad from Man U who has signed but hasn't been announced yet doesn't really get the juices flowing.
I was gutted to see Cook and Halliday move on but have tried to trust the process in the belief it was part of a bigger picture to free up some wages to bring in some real quality. That hasn't happened yet and whilst there is still time, I'm not convinced any more that it will happen and if I'm right, we riot.

 

Exactly this. I can’t believe the amount of people that have been saying this level of guff. I can’t imagine any other fan base thinking like this it’s so weak and lack of ambition.

The team is now weaker than what we came into the transfer window. Cook, Halliday and Pattison all improve that team yesterday. Big week to come which will show Rupps level of commitment and desire. So what if we go up and come back down, who’s to say we don’t go up and kick on and have a strong season in the Championship. It’s all an unknown quantity and to happy to just go out on a whimper now and be thankful that we had a great first half to the season is WEAK!
