    I had the misfortune to spend a weekend in Llangollen in 2013.
    Unfortunately England were playing Wales in the Rugby and the hatred in the local pubs was extraordinary.
    A large proportion being dished out by incomers from the Merseyside area.
    A very unpleasant place on that evening at least, it must be a N Wales thing, never had a problem down south.

    Only South Wales when I worked for big corporate firm with a lot of uk offices. Sounds like perhaps I was just lucky and working in a good team :)

    I have no problem at all with anyone's national language taking primacy in their country and, as a matter of course, I have always tried make sure I can order my beer in the local language of anywhere I am visiting (I can even order my beer in Cornish).

    That said, every time I go into a pub in Wales everyone is speaking English and continues to do so. When we played at Wrecsam/Wrexham, I even visited Wrecsam/Wrexham's Welsh speaking pub, only to find everyone speaking English in there as well.

    I believe Caerdyff/Cardiff has relatively few Welsh speakers.

    I watched the England Argentina World Cup game in a Cardiff pub full of locals. Was the 2002 match when Beckham laid his ghosts to rest. The Welsh were all cheering for Argentina. Booing when Beckham scored. I lost it and shouted “Simon Weston would be ashamed of you f@*kers!”.

    Met some Welsh lads from Anglesey on holiday in the 80s. Great lads and we soon hit it off.

    We went to visit them when we got back. We went in this pub close to the Menaii bridge and they told us to go in with them and sit down at a table tucked away in the corner and not to speak too loudly. They went to the bar and ordered each time as they told us we wouldn't get served because we were English!!

    I'm 50% Brum, 25% Bradford and 25% Welsh and I can honestly we all get along fine.

    There was some situation in the early 80s of Welsh extremists, the Meibion Glyndwr ,burning English owned holiday homes and all that. Thankfully no more.

    Is this a southern welsh spelling? Munster (France or Ireland) and Fritton (Perhaps Pompey de Frites?).
