January 26 transfer rumours

Dogs fans seem to think Liam Manning has been approached but there's also noise that they have reached out to Lincoln to take Skubala.

 

Neither had their best games yesterday. Bobby great though he is, seems a bit lacking pace in that first few yards when receiving the ball in tight areas, which Is why I think he sometimes struggles.

 

I don't care who they get as manager as long as whoever they get doesn't come in before he has time to change things.
Hudds have some good players on paper but grant did just that, made them into paper tigers.
Any manager worth the job will reorganise and tactically use the squad to it's potential, a potential which should have seen them top 2 and staying there.
Hoping the new manager doesn't have the time to know the players and change much.

 

Yeah would be nice if they drag this one out, but the dopey Yank knows how the fanbase is at the minute. I reckon he'll want a quick hire to try and get the best atmosphere possible for next Saturday. Manning could start today, if they are trying to poach someone that could be longer (fingers crossed).

 

Manning looks a bit like a more experienced Lee Grant.

Skubala is doing a fantastic job at this level and I would think he would get Huddersfield promoted. So mixed feelings if he were to go there, as it would obviously disrupt Lincoln significantly.

 

My take Bobby gets a free pass against the best team in the league.... he has not played for ages... Sarac was okay but should have been hooked at 60-70 mins. They look good but we did allow them space and to trap the ball and then the easy bit is pass once no pressure and the ball is fully under control.. Once we got at them in the second half they had no time to look like Brazil. Much better but how many balls dropped in their box including Humphs hoof that a striker oh natural would have got onto too. If your not a striker you don't anticipate were the ball may drop or actually drops. This was very clear get a striker Mr Graham A... I liked the Newcastle lads very fiery and good on the ball...

 

I think there's something off at Town no matter who they employ. A lot of players are posting positive messages for Grant on the back of the sacking, feels like they had a unity but maybe something else is going on behind the scenes. We've seen enough squads here with enough talent on the books but the toxic environment causes unseen harm.

 

Did we get beaten to Joe Taylor? I see he went to Wigan on loan on Fri.

ironic really. Grant couldnt get a tune out of him at Town, they sack Grant, and now been linked to Skubala, under whom he thrived at Lincoln!

playing devils advocate. Could a club ever cancel a new loan in the same window and bring them back to parent club in a situation like that? He’s able to play for two clubs per season isn’t he. Presume there may be financial penalties in such cases to compensate the loaning club.

 

Is it time to start having conversations about Bobby? Was the last time he played well the Huddersfield game? It felt like he kicked on at the start of the season, but now teams have some proper scouting on him he's just not going up the gears as you'd have thought he would have after his start. Injuries obviously haven't helped, but over the last 2 or 3 months he's just not a problem for teams.

I think we have a problem if Sarce and Bobby start, that they dont have enough pace to cause problems. They dont have the outlet speed to get in behind and look like they try their best but don't have the legs to close enough either. Feels like we need to one or the other them and the person who comes in need some pace to their game.

 

I'm rather hoping that having more people in the squad who are comfortable receiving and passing the ball in tight spaces - like Ashby, White, Sibley - will mean less aimless punts. We do need another good option on the left though and someone who is an alternative to Sarcevic.

We could sign a proven goal scorer and still struggle.

At the moment we aren't creating enough chances. Humphrys had one yesterday and missed it. He's a league one player, he isn't going to score every time. We need to create more.

That said, Sibley got more crosses in the box in his time on the pitch than Wright did who was largely anonymous from an attacking perspective in the first half. Ashby and White linked up well and they got the ball in the box or gave opportunity to Power to do so. So, that gives me more confidence.

I do believe if we create more then we will score. We've dropped off in terms of chances created and shots on target in recent months.

Bring in another wide left option and someone who can interchange with Sarcevic and we'll have good attacking options.

 

There was no way they would have loaned him to us IMO.. even though Nagle hasn't got a clue, their new DOF is a Town fan and he wouldn't loan him to us. Not only because we're a promotion contender but because the rivalry runs deep and he would have been crucified by the fan base.

 

Sarcevic is a big moment player. I thought he gave everything yesterday but we need someone who can come and give him a rest. Pointon has the knack of arriving late to score goals but I can’t remember the last time I thought he had a great game. He is better as an impact player

 

I agree with that mostly the chance that JN created for Humphrey was typical of what we were doing regularly early season. I have a feeling white might be a decent chance provider

 

I agree. He looked fresh in the first half yesterday like the postponement did him good but running him into the ground isnt going to help us.

 

They think they can walk into any club and whip away a manager of their choosing . Their main target leading upto Xmas was Stockport’s Challoner. Once again the sheer arrogance is palpable. So now Lincolns boss is flavour of the month?

 

He’s only sacked Grant this weekend because he’s flying over for their “cup final” ( ) next weekend so he doesn’t get booed out of the ground . ( I do read their forum )

Yes and some fans valuation of him is blatantly ridiculous , that aside I thought he “looked” unfit and off pace yesterday? .
