I agree, if we pay a decent fee it will be someone in the early to mid 20s age range with potential like when we bought Wyke. Long term unless we get a rich owner who can afford to fund big losses then the only way we will ever have a chance of getting to the Championship and competing is by developing players like Metcalfe and selling them on for a good fee to reinvest.

 

I know I was questioning the OP player who he named as Ross Wallace.

 

That's one way of getting into a winning team or group as Grant refers to his squad .

 

If he fires us to the Championship it is money well spent. And lets be honest £750k is chicken feed in the Championship and we would need to splash out again/even more on another striker.

 

Why , he’s only 5 months left so would walk away for free in June . That’s how ending contracts seem to go . Notts county will be pragmatic or skint?

I rate Humphrys in what he brings to the team - he has a good shot on him, decent leap, some nice tricks, its quite pacey, is pretty robust, trouble is its usually outside the box, for whatever reason he seems to want to drop deeper a lot of the time or win a flick on for someone else. Thats perhaps the difference between a wide player defaulting to type and an out and out goalscorer. I've a hunch based on what we've spent to date and our ' model' that were trying to do this on the relative cheap and won't be shelling out for a proven goalscorer under the current regime so will need to strike lucky any on loans, Alexander just says what he needs to say to keep the pressure off why would he say anything else. I'm not too fussed for Jatta he is good in League Two but this is a step up.

According to their lot, they turned down a £520k bid for him from Portuguese PL side Casa Pia for him in early Jan.

Humphrys isn't a finisher. He's a forward, but he just doesn't have that finishers instinct.

Statistically, before today Humphrys had the joint second most shots on goal in L1 this season for a striker at 55. Humphrys had a few more strikes today too obviously without scoring. But before today, the second most shooting striker in L1, had the joint 150th best finishing rate in L1.

 

Not sure what to believe tbh. But my point about nearing end of contract still hold . If he’s got longer then fair enough.

 

Both of his best efforts today were blocked by defenders.
He didn’t even make the keeper save them.

Sounds weird to say about a striker who's been pretty much the main striker this season with an amazing conversion of 4 goals from 55 shots before today...... but his 1 yard out open net tap-in earlier in the season really pads out his stats.

 

Doesn’t matter where goals come from as we found out earlier in the season. Metcalfe has started to add goals I believe white scores goals we need a bit of craft which I believe White can also bring. I also think we need direct competition for Sarcevic. Consistent goalscorers are rarely available at this time of year or are to expensive so goals need to be spread accross all our forwards

 

If Humps could finish he would be champ level imo
