Not backing any horse I am saying and it’s a fact if we had signed a striker last season who had scored just short of 40 goals in a division above over two years there would be no comments of “underwhelming”. It’s a different matter when you look at if he suited the way we play or not. I don’t defend his performances only the justification for his signing

He scored 26.
He then scored a further 4 - 2 in the FA cup and 1 each in the EFL cup and trophy.

Thats a lie to suit your narrative or you are confusing goals with goal contributions....

26 goals and 10 assists over a 2 season period.

 

Will be very sorry to see him go, he has been wholehearted and shown the right character throughout his time with us. But it is potentially the right decision based on our football evolvement

 

He is; and with his departure and the departure of Cook, Pattison and maybe Richards, and those that left pre-season we see, more or less, the end of the league 2 era and hopefully enjoy a new dawn. Sentimentally, most will be missed, pragmatically, it was on the cards.

 

If we look at the L2 promotion squad, there is probably under 10 players that remain now (or will be if rumours are correct) - just 6 months of football later.

That's some change from a promotion winning team!

 

Dont forget the 7,000 headers in 5 games.

 

I said earlier this season there isn't one player in this squad I wouldn't replace so back the club whoever leaves. That said, it's a game of emotions and players like Andy Cook and Brad Halliday are the sort of players that have given their all for this club and you gain an emotional attachment, something I don't have yet with most of this squad. I hope the players coming in realise the minimum required is the effort these lads put in during their time here.

Who do you mean because I'm talking about Vadaine Oliver and he certainly didn't get anywhere close to 40 goals over the 2 seasons.

 

So Alexander cut off the head of the snake (Smallwood) and dismembered the rest of the body (Cook, Pattison and Halliday). I do wonder if he didn’t like that amount of influence on the team.
