Yes, they are no more than rumours. The club rightly plays its cards close to its chest and who really knows who they might target. But do you believe that it's the intention to bring in some quality heavy hitters who will push us over the promotion line? I don't for one moment and even if the rumoured names don't arrive, I expect that those that do will be of a similar calibre.

We should ask ourselves the question... do we gamble on spending big in January(inflated fees) and maybe find ourselves with some expensive duds and no money in the summer, or do we work the loan system until we know which division we'll be in come the summer.?
In the Summer there will be contracts up throughout the EFL, there will be lots of free transfers available. Whether league 1 or the championship we will need a big budget for wages to attract the right players for whatever div we are in.
We haven't got the millions so we have to make wise decisions.

There is 18 days left in the window.
    No need to panic.
As others have pointed out, we might not push the boat out.
There's a lot of players to move out of the club before being potentially ready for the championship.

Patto will have been on decent wages and we will have got some fee for him. Cook even if we’re covering some wages, will be have been on a decent whack.
There certainly should be money in the kitty, and some ambition based upon the promotion potential.
Over to Rupp, Sparks, Sharpe and Alexander, do not underwhelm

Would be gamble, as he's never played RCB (or CB) in 1st team football

Not worried about being “underwhelmed” on paper it’s on the pitch I am bothered about

Not sure about this one Dave. Looked ineffective and poor when I saw him too.
Surely if we are serious about progressing, we need to be looking at better than this?

Our centre backs in possession play wide, or they should do.
We don't play right backs and he's not a RWB so I think Touray is a fantastic example of a player who can adapt and possibly what we are looking to do

Sibley looks like a decent acquisition. Will handle League 1 football better than Patto, or Wright in a 10 role

Ashby is an out an out RWB, Halliday isn't and his attacking output at this level is very limited

    so two upgrades there

White could be hit or miss

Don’t rate Wheatley. Might be a tidy player by all means but he's not an out an out goal scorer and is not a target man, so of the two profiles we are looking at, he fits neither

What we need is a quality player to come in that fits straight into the team, and for me it needs to be a number 10 or a CB. We are buggered if Pointon/Sarc get injured and/or we have to resort to playing a combination of Bryne and Kelly again at the back

Have you seen a lot of Wheatley? To make that judgement

Yes, I did also wonder that on an earlier post. He is only 5ft 10 but then so is Touray so it could work.

I don't think so. When Orient signed him, Wellens said he could play anywhere across their central three. He didn't say he could play on the wide side of their front three so unless Alexander thinks otherwise he is a central midfielder

Yes quite a few times for Walsall last season when we weren’t playing and this season twice plus our game. He was like Bambi . A decent centre back just knocked him off the ball so easily . Not a great header of the ball either .

Well the Northampton fans are sorry to lose him in general took a bit to get going understandable for a young player but was playing well up to his injury. So should he sign I will judge by what I see

We’re third in the league and the recruitment under Shape has been excellent.

i’ll trust that if he says these lads are upgrades, they are worth giving a chance.

look at King Curtis as a prime example of Sharpe knowing better than us.
