Andy Cook On Loan to Grimsby

I hope the club don’t announce any signings today, and just let Cooky get the full adulation he deserves without any distractions…Tonight is about Andrew Ellis Cook.

It was clear to all of us his time was ending here , if not now in 5 months . Surely he could see the writing on the wall?

A saved wage ( or portion) and a saved squad place.

No room for sentimentality and hints of smelly fish.

Cook was our longest serving player I believe?
Who is our new longest serving? bobby? Halliday?

Says alot eh. GA doesnt pull any punches. Walker, Smallwood and Cook - 3 cult heroes all chucked on the scrap heep within 6 months.

 

Andy was definitely a modern legend during his time here and will be missed.

Its a shame the majority of his time here he played in an underachieving team, and carried the team for a few years.

He certainly played his part in getting us out of league 2 eventually, just a huge shame he didnt play at the end of the season and wasnt involved in that amazing day against Fleetwood.

Thanks for the memories, he never gave less than 100% for us and the love was mutual between the fans and Andy.

All the very best to him with our fishy friends, I truly hope he proves his fitness and smashes plenty of goals in for the Mariners and helps them to promotion.

My biggest wish for him is he manages to secure a contract with Grimsby or some other decent league team in the summer. Who knows he may line up against us next season, now that would feel strange.

 

To be fair, he made the right call on Walker and Smallwood. We have to trust it's the same this time but that will all depend on who comes in. Let's see.

 

And I think so far, his decisions have been correct. Let's see what we have incoming now as his (temporary?) replacement.

 

Gutted about this, probably the best for both parties as GA clearly doesn’t favour him but it still stings. Such a shame he didn’t get a proper send off

 

The first two, he has been proved correct, neither pulling up any trees in the league below
Loved Cook, but 35 with the ACL, he would have gone at the end of the season
Off the squad quota and a bit of cash saved
Good luck to him a legend at our club, but all good things come to an end

Sorry to see Andy leave but more annoyed at the way he has been disposed of by Alexander.
The goals this season showed what Andy could still do and the like will never be scored by players such as Kavanagh.
To not even get on the bench recently is nothing short of disgraceful after fighting his way back to fitness.

 

I resisted out of respect for Cooky on his farewell thread, but it would make for an interesting debate another time and place.

 

I will be fair to Richie...captained us out of L2 after 7 years of misery. Was superb last season - POTY and L2 TOTY. And lets agree there would have been no complaints if he had got a new deal and contimued his journey.

 

He should definitely have been on the bench over christmas and a starter against Mansfield,sad way to go.all the best Cookie

 

Are any of them of League 1 pedigree.. that's the issue, and GA is doing what he is supposed to do...Build a team that can compete in this division.
Time and players move on, however much we love them. It's always been that way and always will be.

 

Should have been on the bench last few games, and should have come on at Mansfield.
