We will be getting our Joe Wright and Joe Wight mixed up!

 

Ashby deal is up this summer, White has one more year. But yeah looking at their ages and the fact they are still at our level, i imagine they could well both be released in the summer and Newcastle pay White off.

White seems like he's recovered and back to full fitness now as is Ashby who has been out pretty much all season with a thigh issue. They paid £3m for Ashby and it seems like he'll be off on a free in the summer.

 

Maybe a bid too good to turn down has come in for Neufville, maybe he is not settling up north?. More likely Halliday on his way despite the "no chance' comment on here over the weekend

 

What do we know about White? Position? Strengths?

The basic summary from Newcastle fans seems to be "he went to Orient and did nothing, should go to league two"

 

Reckon it's Halliday that's off, making way for Ashby. Nuefville dropped off in terms of form, gave Halliday the opportunity to gain match fitness and put himself in the shop window. Don't see Championship clubs being interested in Neufville just yet, been too inconsistent

 

Did well for MK last season, went to Orient, got injured, never got back in the team. Read a Newcastle fans write up on his time in the U21 system and an MK fan sounded similar, he's good technically but needs to bulk up a bit, doesn't have much physically to his game. But I'd say Metcalfe is similar? He isnt exactly a big lad, doesn't look like he'd be a threat in a contest but he still puts himself about a isnt scared of the challenge. Maybe we put that into him a bit this season?

 

I'm pretty sure the players of interest to the club will have been targeted to play a specific role within our structure.

 

Agree. I have much more confidence in our recruitment team than I had a couple of years ago.

 

Joe Wright sounds more like a Leigh Replacement to me, CM, good technically but needs more physicality in his game

 

He was injured wasn’t he …did he even play for them?

Ashby played last season for QPR and had a second half a season on loan to another championship club the season before that. He is available for a permanent move according to the Newcastle jurno and White has 18 months left on his contract.

Looks like he’s 24 but only played 40 games in his career. I wheats wonder why a player who should be approaching the peak of their career has played so few games.

Pointon is 2 years rounder and has played 115, even Kavanagh (aged 22) has played 100.
