I can’t pretend to know anything about this - there have been stories about night sky changing colour and it’s been shown to be heat lamps at football clubs! It even happened at Wycombe Wanderers, near to where I live. If City think there’s a chance the pitch might be deemed unplayable, why not get in front of the situation and use heat lamps? Based on which other teams are playing today and Rotherham’s form, I think we’re missing out big style with today’s game being off!

It’s bloody annoying that, especially as we couldn’t be playing Rotherham at a better time IMO, and also I’ve started to hate night matches. Saturdays are much better. Weekend ruined.

An afternoon of watching a discussion on the various components of pitch covers, the structure of football pitch turf and the vagaries of the British weather it is then.

There was the Liverpool u21s EFL trophy game early December where it was starting to freeze then a few weeks later over the Christmas period we played Stockport when the pitch was playable but it was raining heavy which completely killed the pitch.

Yeah, midweek matches are dead, and Bradford is grim on a night. Hopefully it will be in March when it might be a bit lighter.

Guiseley have called their game off and the pitch is rock hard like concrete. Although we have better facilities, it is local enough to maybe give us an insight

I never thought we would have a match this weekend. I thought the inspection yesterday was pointless given what can happen overnight.

Dont mind this one being off really. Thought Rotherham would get something with their terrible form so that cans kicked down the road. Gives a few some extra rest for knocks, means guys like Pennington who were on the verge of fitness should be fine for next week and also means Power isn't banned for next week either.

Does mean me being up Baildon Moor this morning in -5 temps to tire the dog out for the day was completely pointless!

To do it fully and cover the whole pitch you're needing a lot more than the 1 or 2 small ones we have which cost a lot to buy and run then you've got to have somewhere to store them when they're not in use. The cost of them would outweigh the cost of today being postponed.

It would be interesting to know what the team would have been today especially whether Sarcevic and Swan would have been fit. If there were doubts over them then it's not the worst thing to happen that it's off today.

The covers seem to be of little use, starving the pitch of air and light and not protecting from freezing temperatures.
Maybe we should invest in 200 electric blankets instead

Yeah that is right actually i can't remember the game either but it was similar conditions and we did pay the price with damage to the pitch.

I'm disappointed but will stay warm instead and spend the afternoon cheering for our rivals opponents! Or where both are rivals pray for draws with multiple injuries and sendings off!

    Come on you O's!!
