Graydon the striker from Fleetwood who was mentioned on here has completed his move to Salford. Initial £400k fee, can rise to £600k with add ons...... mental money for a bloke whos out of contract in the summer and has scored 25 in 100 for Fleetwood. His 8 this season isnt a bad return, but if there ever was an indicator that 6 figure fees are just going rate now for in demand players, this is it.

 

Just stupid money for an average league two striker, but then again its Salford

Some will still insist that £250k for Pointon is good business.

 

Imagine what you'd get for a Striker with 346 assists in 2 seasons.

Pointon has 7 goals and been injured and creates more and is a live wire in midfield... 16 games....The striker at Salford has eight goals and three assists in 24 League Two appearances this season???? Pointon worth lots more in my opinion...

If that’s the barometer/ benchmark then yes . It really is ridiculous . Fans pay the price at the end of the day ?

 

I've never seen a fanbase undervalue their own players like we do. I wouldn't be entertaining offers less than £5m for Pointon in this market.

Will Swan has a better pedigree than Graydon and is 2 years younger. We got him on an effective free.

 

Dan Kemp anyone? Looks as though he has been off it this season. Always looked good against us. Good age and sell on potential. 6 months left on his contract. What's he worth?

Cant see much of a sell-on in Kemp? He turns 27 this weekend. If they aim would be to sell him on, you're talking a minimum of a 2.5 year deal to sell him in 18 months at the earliest and by then he'll be 28, turning 29 that season and nobody is paying good money for a lad that age who's yo-yo'd his way across L1 and L2 his career.

He's still a player who had that one great season, was a good year last year but that's his career to date. Not pulling any trees up this season and it sounds like Stevenage need some money ASAP. If they need to sell assets, he wont bring in much with 6 months left on his deal. They'd pay that up and maybe a little extra, low 6 figure fee maybe at the minute?

 

Didn't GA have him at MK in his short spell there ?

Just checked he loaned him straight out to Swindon, where he and Young scored a boat load together.

Wouldn't surprise me if we did. As bantam 2708 says above, we have a long history of undervaluing our own players and letting them go for peanuts (sometimes not even that).

 

I agree. There are monied championship clubs who'd pay that for him. With at least a 3m initial fee.
