He might though be looking for someone to invest with him because he isn't really wealthy enough on his own to sustain Championship football. I firmly believe that's where he would like us to be in the short term, but that will come at a cost. Let's hope we can achieve that goal - we do have a chance this season

 

And he'll be one of those players who will fade rapidly from our memories completely like Juanjo and Andy Tod

Unless we plan on using Sibley as a CM? And if the Palace lad ever happens, he fill in the attacking role? There was a twitter rumour last night that Tommy Leigh has asked to leave but could well be waffle.

 

I remember Andy Tod pretty well actually. Beanpole striker who scored a few goals as a makeshift striker. Certainly contributed more than Powell has so far.

 

GA has said they see Sibley as mainly an attacking CM, albeit with versatility to play elsewhere.

 

He was a defender who could play up top.. anyway, he scored 4 in 12 whilst he was on loan to us then after signing for us managed 1 in 23.. one of Jim Jeffries flops.

 

Yeh I see it as Sibley > Pattison.

 

I thought this too, but then we brought Sibley on in the front three in the last game. That would be very un Alexander-like. When he signs players for one position, he's usually stubborn with it (Humps).

I'd be fine with Sibley in the CM role. Metcalfe and Sibley could compete/rotate in the second CM slot, and then we'd have Tommy Leigh as back-up.

I guess we shall see.

 

I wouldn't be surprised that TL wants out tbf.. he'll see his opportunities withering with the arrival of Sibley and A.N. Other should it come to bear fruit.

Sibley obviously brought in knowing that Patto was on his way out. I’d be looking to bring in another striker to support Swann and Humphries, as it’s apparent that Kav isn’t up to scratch, and sadly Cookie too. Move those both on and get one improvement in return. Leigh asking to leave makes sense, as he seems to have had a fallout with GA, and tbh, does anyone know what his best position is? Same with Lapslie too. We’re all praising Sharpes new transfer regime, but honestly I don’t think we’ve ever had so many round pegs in square holes not getting in the match day squad before.

 

There's been a couple of people posting this on C over the last week or so. Someone else claiming he'd told them he was done at the club.

If folk are making stuff like this, it's just wrong.

 

Yeah i saw someone who said they were at the Mansfield game i think it was and said that they were in the away end with Tommy and he was telling everyone he was done at the club. Very weird behaviour if it's all made it.

In reality, Leigh probably has little future at VP outside of a bit part player unless something magically clicks with his game in the near future.

 

Well it makes sense, he is a decent age and wants to play regular football - don't fault him for that.

Leigh has had his chances, has been an underwhelming signing (certainly wouldnt put him in the shit pile) so best for player and club he moves on. No hard feelings....cheers Tommy.

Oh and I doubt we will have trouble shifting him, should get a decent enough fee too.
