Sorry mate but totally disagree. Tayo seems a great lad but a fit Richards is head and shoulders above him defensively and also in my opinion more effective in attack. Such a shame he is so injury prone.

Richards is the equivalent Lee Angol.

People have short memories (and an obsession with wanting to bring back former players). Tayo had a brilliant purple patch with us but had really started to drop off towards the end of the season.

Technically I'd say Richards is better and defensively too.... but in any position in any team sport, availability is your best ability. And Richards playing is rarer than rocking horse plop over the last year or so, and pretty much most his career to be fair.

    I'm with you.

If Alexander is going to continue with 3 at the back then it's such an important position and we have Touray and Wright and tbh neither are as good as Neufville. If we had another Neufville on the left we'd be a real handful.

I like Richards but he's played less than Powell in the last 13 months so we need to recruit someone.

The clamour for getting ex players back is generally misguided in the end . Non of them bar Stuart , ever really work out to be positive moves, especially those originally coming in on loan in the first instance?
In this instance no to Tayo!

My read is the decision to put Touray in LCB or LWB is opponent-specific. Obviously, there have been games where it was 100% necessary due to injuries, but I suspect Alexander is putting Toruay in LCB when opponents play in a certain way.

Might be to do with opponent long ball %s, % of opponent attacks/dribbles down the right, speed/skill of the opponent right winger. Kelly and Touray are very different players so I'd like to think there is some logic to the decisions.

Alexander talks a lot about analysis (XG etc) in interviews so I think we have a decent in-house analyst team now.

Looks like McIntyre is staying which probably means we won’t bring another central defender in unless one moves. It’s a pity because I think we could do with one with a bit of pace and probably a bit younger. I think our defence is vulnerable to pace

We are in a different boat. We are still third with a load more games played and a gap widening up.

It's a case by case thing for me on returning players. You get the odd one like Cullen who looked great in both spells but it's very few.

I'm not overly fussed by Tayo, but for the left wing back role we've had 3 LWBs on the books in decades? Two are still here and the other is being talked about. Might be more a knowledge thing than anything else, Touray is looking good at LCB, Richards is glued to the physio room, so there is a LWB gap there really in the squad but the knowledge around potentials for the role is probably not well known. Lets face it, up until maybe 3 or 4 years ago, every club in the 92 played a back 4. So wing backs are either adventurous full backs or wingers being asked to play deeper still in the EFL. Youths are learning the role more and you are seeing younger wing backs appearing in the EFL from PL academies more than anything.

I'd like to hope you're right- that makes us sound quite professional!

The challenge for me is we kind of need to merge Wright and Touray to make one LWB. They have different strengths and swapping them around all the time can also create errors as they don't have chance to bed into the position.

    Cheeky bid for Shep ?
    Spot on .

We have a choice to make? If Tourays best position is left of a three , where does Tilty play , perhaps centre back which then means we need a very good LWB . ( Wright not being the answer ) . Good ones will be expensive as you suggest they are pretty rare ?

Liked what I have seen, not amazing pace but he's on the front foot and gets stuck in. Mind boggling Byrne (and to a lesser degree, Kelly) getting in the team before him.
