If he'd played the same number of times as Swan and/or Humphrys then it would be possible to judge if you are correct but as he has hardly played in the league, it isnt.

No more balance defensively, the Swan & Kavanagh were tongue in cheek, and I'll be more than happy to see either get the winner.

 

I'm resigned to the fact he's going, but it just feels wrong that it's happening the way it is, he should be going out with a bang not a wimper. In an ideal world he'll still be at the club next Saturday and in some capacity will be able to be out on the pitch, even if just for a couple of minutes so that we can give him a proper send off and show him our appreciation.

 

I like this lineup. I'm hoping we actually try and play it on the deck and don't hoof ball. Lots of technically skilled players in that starting 11

 

Perhaps Cook and the club have agreed that he can go if he gets an 18-month deal but nothing has come in yet so best not to risk injury during the window. If no one gives him a decent deal, he stays at City, sees out his contract, and is available for selection. If so, a whole month of speculation is gonna drive everyone nuts.

Well the line up looks more solid although our attacking options still looks weak with Kav and Swan out of form. Hopefully Sarc has his scoring boots on.

 

I can understand Cook not playing, He'll do great for someone in League 2, but Pattison should be in the squad.

 

Or a decent payday for one more year ...........he could still cut it at League two or higher non league ...........maybe Hartlepool

 

I understand the reason why Cook will be released from both the club and players point of view he definitely is not going to be a regular starter and at this point of his career he needs to be playing. And he is an expensive asset to be on the bench.

With Baldwin back Byrne was always likely to drop out of the squad regardless of his performance against Mansfield. I don't think Kavanagh is necessarily starting ahead of Humphrys due to performance it is more to do with giving Humphrys a rest.
Ideally I don't think any of the outfield players would have started all 4 games over Christmas but due to injuries/players out of favour it has meant some have had to but we've kept it to a minimum of Power, Metcalfe and Touray.

 

I think there may be something in that. Clearly at his age, and coming back off his injury, GA has decided he will be a bit part player at best. No way are we offering him a new deal at the end of the season, but he does have an opportunity of an 18 month deal at League 2 or top end National league level. Any injury this month throws that out of the window, so Im sure those talks have already happened privately.
