Baldwin maybe but the other two not in my opinion. If GA trusted Cook he would be in. As for Pattison we need better, much better. Can we get that? Not sure but we'll soon see.

 

There was a twitter rumour that apparently Leigh had told fans in the stand that he is done at City. Although in the replies there's an account named Steve Leigh that has said Tommy has never said anything like that. Looking at Steve Leighs account, seems like he is a Pompey fan and might well be a relative.

Although dont read the rest of his tweets unless you want to see a lot of right leaning political tweets and the odd reply to Tommy Robinson types

 

A few mentioned Jamie Donley, sounds like he's off to Bolton from their fans and a few Spurs twitter accounts. He was recalled from Stoke today.

I think there's a player in Leigh, just not here. He just doesnt fit in any position we have and he's played the lone man, played the attacking mids and CM. Felt like for a while GA was crowbarring him in to try make it work, but his style just doesn't suit us.

 

He’s a 10 behind the strikers but we don’t play with em so was a strange signing at the time, that said he was outstanding at start of season in central midfield so seems very strange he all of a sudden can’t make the squad. Gotta be a better option than some in the starting 11 and bench today

If Cook isn't leaving in January I'll be very surprised because for all his so called failings (sticking the ball in the back of the net isn't one) he would certainly get in that starting 11 today as would a fit Pattison, you say Alexander does not trust Cook yet he plays Kavanagh who was very poor today and offered little.
Baldwins situation is a strange one he doesn't really have an injury but feels like something could go if he plays another Jake Reeves situation mental rather than physical.

 

Even if Cook or Pattison are leaving they are still paid by others and they were needed today

I agree with you obviously Alexander thinks if there leaving then its up to others to show they are capable of a starting place and on todays performance very few showed anything like what's needed to maintain our great points return so far this season.
If Cook and Pattison are still at the club come the end of the transfer window we have a problem imo.

You'd expect we'd be trying to move a few players on if we can (Cook, Leigh, Patto, Lapslie, Richards, Kavanagh) Neufville must have interest in him. (I can't explain him not playing today otherwise).

Which means we're going to need 5 or 6 in and that's before we even get to the defenders.

 

It looks to me like we are shifting on the reported high earners

I do think plans have been brought forward from the summer due to how well we started. The summer business and the contract situation for some of the older players seemed like a midtable finish and moving onto the next stage without the likes of Cook and Pattison was the natural step for this season.
Because we will be overperforming our budget and will need to do so to finish top 6 then it means we need to be clever with our money so we can't really justify the likes of Cook being one of the highest earners when he's not one of the key players.
Personally I don't see Neufville moving on in January, he started the season well but in November he dropped off which lead to Halliday coming back in and until today he had played well. I do think Sunday will be the time for Neufville to come back in now that he's rested and it gives Halliday a break. With the drop off in form I don't see any club coming in with a bid that is big enough to consider us selling as I don't think we'd accept anything other than a silly price.

 

It makes sense moving players on if they are not in the plans but we are paying big money to Cook and Pattison and in the absence of replacements they should be available to play now

 

None of those mentioned ( Cook, Leigh, Patto, Lapslie, Richards, Kavanagh) have really been involved over the last 6 weeks or so and if we can replace some of them with an upgrade then we will be stronger for it.

 

On Neufville, a guy mentioned this in the pub a few days ago and i couldnt answer him. But its completely just a question, not linked to any rumour or anything like that but does anyone know if Neufville moved up north? For the stories sake, as the gent in the pub relayed a story I've heard Neville say a few times before but he told it again on Stick to Football fairly recently.

Gary Neville was asked if he ever got involved in team selections or trying to sway a manager. He said he hadn't but he questioned it one time and it was with GA at Salford. When they were in non-league, they had a talented kid who they gave a 3 year deal to and they all thought this guy will go in 18/24 months and make us a fortune. As part of the deal, they wanted the lad to move up north as he was London based. Everyone agreed to it and they thought no bother.

Season starts, everything's going well until this lads fitness starts to drop. He got one or two niggles and was turning up late occasionally. I think he said GA either found out through the agent or the players family, but the lad never moved up north and instead was driving to Stoke every day, then getting a train to Manchester and back. So he'd do a full season but also sit in a car or on a train for 6/7+ hours every day and all that sitting was awful for his muscles. GA explained why this style is no good and needed a commitment from him to change. The lad didn't and by the end of the season Neville had to ask why he wasn't playing, GA explained, they accepted. I'm sure Neville said GA didn't even put the lad in the matchday squad for the NL play off final as punishment too.

Again, not at all saying this has happened here. Just a guy asked a question as he couldn't understand why Neufville isn't used anymore and brought up that GA has previous for not committing to guys if they wont do the same.
