Agree with you about the red for the challenge against Pointon. The player that fouled him was Weir who got a second yellow for the challenge on Touray. The straight red was shown to Smith.

 

Noticed Humphreys didn't really celebrate his goal but Power did.

Where are we on those non celebrations when the player scores against a club he previously played for?
I recall Deano scoring against us V Sheff Utd and celebrating wildly. That's how it should be IMHO.

They aren't all the same person. I agree there's some extreme takes but like I say this is a sample of a range of different posters. You could post the same clip on any forum and you'd get the same response. Likewise, the straight red would get full support. The clip shows real time and a replay.

 

I’d be interested to get your reaction had he sustained the same injury as Osedebe did against Doncaster for a similar tackle. Honestly the boy was very lucky not to get injured.

 

He'll get the chance over the next few weeks because I think Bobby will have a spell on the treatment table after this. He's definitely not going to be ready for Monday but if I was a betting man I'm thinking at least 2/3 weeks.

They aren't a hivemind. There are some daft comments on there but not a single poster thinks it's a red. Surely that tells you something. You could post that clip on any forum and nobody calls it a red.

18 odd posts and nobody on a neutral board thinks it's a red, so what's the conclusion..

A) people in Sunderland don't understand the rules of the game.
B) they randomly hate Bradford and they're clearly bias.
C) This board might be bias as its a Bradford City forum.

 

Who cares what the conclusion is.

If that challenge is in the prem with VAR then it's 100% upgraded to a red. As it was, the referee didn't have that luxury so the call of a yellow was understandable, even if it wasn't entirely the correct one by the letter of the law.

 

You say it's like it's fact that VAR would give red. I don't think they would.

Like I've said, nobody away from this board would consider it a red card. Hypothetically, if we were to do a much bigger straw poll and every single neutral says it's not a red then surely the logical conclusion would be to admit that you need to reassess your judgement. If the rational response to that is 'I don't care, I'm right and everyone else is wrong, then fair enough but that doesn't make sense to me.

If you honestly believe that VAR wouldn't upgrade that to a red (I actually don't believe you to be fair, I think you're just playing a narrative at this point) then you really don't watch enough top flight football.

The video would be slowed right down, paused at an image similar to the still I posted and the ref wouldn't even have a decision to make. It's high, out of control and endangering the player. After VAR then It's a red, there simply isn't any other decision you could make.

 

Red all day long. I also think it was on the ref's mind and that he was waiting for the opportunity to give the guy another yellow.
