I agree with that, it makes sense as you can often get better players on loan than permanent. I think all 3 types of loans should be open to use to get a good player:
    • Youngster who's been playing u21s football and ready for a move to a 1st team
    • Youngster who's on loan at a league 2 side and ready to make the jump up
    • A more senior player at a Championship club who's out of favour and likely out of contract in the summer so we get a good player and potentially get a head start on getting them in the summer.
We must have good links with a few clubs after how we've developed a few players and to see their comments after leaving about how much they've loved it.

I meant players who are already out on loan at other clubs and excelling there and need a step up.

Great post, I agree fully. Whilst obviously permanent moves would be the favorable things for club to do, like the majority of other clubs at this level, that is not really feasible; at least in terms of getting real quality in. Does it suck to have a loan player do exceptionally well and not be able financially to procure them on a permanent basis? Absolutely. However, with where we are in the table and the general good vibes around the club, just need to get stronger and if a loan player does that for 6 months and goes back to their parent club, will have our full thanks and a good luck going forward in their careers.

Some solid strikers out there we can get on loan I am sure and hopefully we already have some irons in the fire as it were.

I agree with point 3, but 1 & 2 are non starters for me because Alexander doesn't really trust youth. I can't see him loaning an U21 unless they are exceptional.

You largely answered the question . If he’s got a PERSISTENT injury problem at Rotherham , why have they released him , that’s right because he’s persistently injured , yet you seem to think we can get rid of the injury first then keep him fit thereafter. Sorry I’m missing your point . Decent player maybe, maybe not, but are you suggesting we take him on a wing and a prayer ? Another wasted squad position will ensue.

Thanks - have you woken up on the wrong side of the bed

I was observing (on a transfer rumour thread) that yes injury prone first half of the season but when fit looks a good player whose attributes (powerful striker) we'll likely be looking at bringing in.

Sorry my post wound you up haha!

Agree. Same point I made a few pages ago. And if they were out of contract in the summer then that could work out even better if they did well.

You need to do slightly better than that to wind me up . Nothing wrong with an injured player you are right, some would say he’d fit in well.

Some other rumours, Bolton are the latest club to buy from the Irish League, they are paying a six figure fee for 20 year old defender Lewis Temple from Shelbourne.

Leo Castledine sounds like he might be taken away from Huddersfield, his parent club Chelsea are open to selling him and have had calls from Championship clubs.

Luton want Aaron Morley from Bolton, local journo saying he has a £500k price tag. Seems like Luton are ready to launch cash in Jan.

Whoever thinks we should sign sick notes needs to leave the club. Can we also stop the love-in with 34 yo signings? Merry Christmas ;-)

Aye, but you're also planning for next season, and once Grant is gone if Town make a good appointment, they're going to be one of the favourites.

I dont think we've reached the limit of our potential by any means, but I can see why someone might still choose Town over us (plus the money, you know).

Their objective is autos THIS season , so expect them to spend another £5m in Jan? . Yes I did mention money being a factor.

Rhys Bennett of Manchester United is heading out on loan in January to a League 1 club, I wonder if that is us.

Doncaster manager says they have 2 deals already signed to announce on Jan 1st and that 4 of their current loans are going back to their parent club on Jan 1st, one is a CB. Wonder if it's them?

My one concern in all this is that SR may be of the opinion we have got to where we are with what we have got, so why invest in January.
I agree the league is currently poor and we have a great opportunity for back-to-back promotions but personally I just don't see it happening - in fact I don't even think we will be in the play-offs come May and that will stem from complacency when others can and will go for it.
More than happy to be proven wrong on all counts though.
I am also thrilled at what we have already achieved - way beyond expectations.

Doncaster say…….we are in freefall , second to bottom and the fans are deserting them in big numbers . McCann has to try some positive spin or he’s on his way and his old swapsie is jobless …Ferguson?. Since they played us they have struggled somewhat .
