IF....

Not many to be honest, i think we are carrying a fair few not good enough for L1. The step up is a big one but you would hope Bobby, Josh & Metcalfe kept developing over time but most wouldn't make the step up - add in big Sam Joe W and Pennington id say that's about it

 

A. Maybe Power, Humphries, Pointon, Walker, Sarc, Baldwin.
B. Not really

 

I remember fans asking the same about Wayne Jacbos when we got promoted he came back the following season right up to our Premiership days and never let us down.

 

Is B not more likely if we narrowly miss promotion, which would likely increase the profile of the management team with us competing this season against teams with far higher budgets? If we did get promoted then I think they'd definitely stay to have a season in Championship with us. Either way think unlikely they'll go.

 

From what I've seen so far I'd say no with the caveat that players like Bobby, Josh Neufville and Metcalfe may improve playing with a better standard of player around them. Sam Walker could do a job as could a couple of others in the right set up but if I was a championship manager I wouldn't be looking at signing any of our current squad.

 

There's been one or two players that have gone through the leagues with their respective sides, a lad from Swansea springs to mind but his name escapes me.

 

Leon brittain?

 

I was thinking of that well known right winger for a moment.
But is this the lad that when substituted or at the end of the game (can’t remember which), came past our end applauding us? I remember it being a class act.

The rest aren't consistent enough and in Sarcs and Walkers situation they're getting on now to maintain levels for their positions for playing in the championship.
I include Neufville who for me has fallen off a cliff form wise and looks no where near getting it back.

 

Walker and Bobby - possibly Metcalfe. Rest not a hope in hell unfortunately.

 

Pennington, J Wright and Walker are nowhere near. Josh and Bobby are young so maybe but currently you'd have to say that both are also miles away from that standard.

 

Baldwin in the championship?

Feck me, I thought April was ages away.

 

I imagine we'd look for bargains and eventually take our medicine with the inevitable relegation in the hope of retaining our better assets back in L1.

 

Opinions eh?

 

Port Vale and Donny looked okay last season..... the jump up is huge and you easily get found out.... remember the divisions are full of managers wanting the same thing and will completely try to negate other teams strengths... we have done amazing this year without a striker that can get 10-15 goals so far... we need more even just for this division in January never mind the jump up... if we want to get to the play offs or autos...

 

Just seen on sky that Bristol City posted a loss of over 18m for the past year, gulp.

 

I wouldn't expect SR to throw millions in fees and wages at Championship level players on 2 or 3 year contracts. That would be foolish.

My hope, if we were to get promoted, would be that he could provide funding for loan players to try to keep us up.
