Tbh Kev it's a fair point though. We either need someone to get us up now, i'e, a 6-month loan or purchase who will do the job. Or don't worry about promotion and bring someone in with high promise who will bring high resale value. From what I've seen of Jatta, even though he has a lot of goals his finishing is far inferior to Cook. He has better athleticism and pace, but is no better with the ball. To me, he looks like he'll fall over most of the time. To me, he is a Marc McNulty at Coventry when he was in league 2, going through the form of his life at a lower level, but I will stick my neck out and say he'd totally flop here or anywhere in League 1.

 

Seen the Peterborough link for him, although it might just be lazy journalism that he played well under Williams before, so they are linking him again.

Another tough one for us is that we are stocked up age wise in the squad and we will need outs before ins when it comes to experienced players. So unless it's a youth loan, I'm not expecting many fresh faces in the first half the window unless people in L2/NL/LOI really fancy some of our squad players and gaps open up.

 

Who knows tbh , I’m not defending the lad, I honestly think he’s a tempremental player , going well for him and he’s the dogs, the opposite applies , but 1in every 2 games isn’t to be sniffed at however . What is clear is we don’t have a 20goal a year striker currently either playing or not . GA and likely the entire coaching set up probably don’t believe Cookie has it in him after the injury, which is a shame but they see him daily so less likely to select him ? We are going by his past record perhaps ? . Jatta is likely available and at a moderate price . I can’t think of any “centre forward” who we have seen this season who would be available at a reasonable price we could afford ? Can you ?
Being pragmatic, it’s players like him or a top quality CC loan that’s the table we are eating at come January ?

 

Bear in mind Pish arnt flushed with the same amount of cash of old . DA has repeatedly said they now need funds to keep the club operating.

 

If ML is available on loan, I can see a few down that way interested so probably a southern team gets his signature. If its permanent, he may fancy a move back up north to his roots (Ex Boro).

Halliday, Richards, Kelly, Byrne, Pattison, Lapslie, Powell, Kavanagh could be available IMO. All for different reasons....personally I don't see Cook leaving in January. Don't think the club force him out anyway, if he desperate to go then possibly.

 

We need some quality loans. It's an opportunity we need to tap into given our excellent league position. Other clubs such as Walsall find good strikers on loan such as Lowe and Kanu.
Hope we can find the next Burke, Cullen and Lewis O'brien..............we don't need Afoka and Nevers!!

 

The thing with Langstaff is can he play the lone front man role? Hes a decent finisher but hes not the type to be a target man and hold the play up. Jatta and Hardie are that type

 

To be fair, our strikers couldn't score in a brothel for the last 2 or 3 months. We're only second still because this league us tragic this season and no team has any form to speak of. Must be a first of its kind where a forward hasn't scored for so long as we are still maintaining?

I reckon theres more than enough to say that in an attacking aspect, the tactic doesn't work for us lately. It's time to drop a wide attacker and play 2 up top for me, even for the hat full of matches between now and Jan just to figure out if theres something there but also if theres some future for some guys on the books or not.

 

I totally agree, managers are stubborn feckers aren't they, but personally a 352 for us would probably see an improvement up front

Why do we need another target man? We got promoted without one and we played our best football this season with Swan leading the line.

I don’t think GA will touch Jatta. Think he wants players with the right personality and not sure Jatta has the sort of reputation GA is after.

i also think GA in his own mind is happy with how Humphrys is doing in the role.

I reckon Donny sign jatta for 300k. Molyneux did well in L2 but I must admit i barely remember his name mentioned in L1.
