Yes the owners were hoping he would sign an extension, there to be seen in the article, he refused to sign an extension and had 18 months remaining on his contract, and said to the club he would only sign for Town which then limited/stopped other clubs bidding, they could have run his contract down maybe hoping Nahki could score enough goals to get up into a play off place and that in itself would have increased his transfer value but instead they made the decision to sell, and they had little choice of where he went.

Where he went wasn't my point though. They didn't have a gun held to their head to sell him since it was the intention to let him leave before the season even started.

Yes they had him to sell if they did not get a Cup run,
this quote doesn't say your highlighted above, Julian said: "The only reason the season before we'd had the budget we did was because we had NahkiWell's to sell. We didn't make any money elsewhere.
Nahki still had 18 months on his existing contract when the club let him go.

    Bronco honestly.

When did they set the budget....before the season.

Why did they set the budget at the level they did....because they knew they had Nahki to sell

Therefore....When did they decide they were selling Nahki?....before the season.

No more now. It was clearly the intention from the moment they set the budget. The only thing that was forced (allegedly) was where he went.

I agree with your post in its entirety. I just wanted to expand on that one point.

You don’t think I do what?

Sorry I never watched this, so you are going to have to explain to me, what being obsessed with sex in this character has to do with Greg Abbott?

Hopkin appears to be in no rush to make his mind up about the pair.
Must be unsettling for them to be fair, not knowing when they turn up for work at the moment, whether it's their last day at the club
Hopkin does however need to get this decision right.

Doyle nearly signed for Posh for £300,000 so our fee should be similar.

    That's a logical failure.

They knew they COULD sell him, so they set their budget accordingly.

They did not know they WOULD sell him, because there were better potential alternatives. These did not come to pass, so they DID sell him

How is it a logical failure.

They knew they had him to sell if no other avenues of extra finance appeared. No other avenues of extra finance appeared so they sold him.

Why then would they need a gun holding to their head (The original statement) to carry out the exact plan they had set out with in the summer?

The gun at their heads comment was with regards Nahki going to Town and no where else.

They did not decide to sell him before the season started.

So when JR said that they set the budget before the season at a higher level because they knew they could sell Nahki to recover it that definitely wasn't them considering selling him. Not sure how else to read that statement.

Was it? That doesn't half look like it was to do with our asset being sold rather than where he went.

We all know how the Nahki situation panned out, but by all means your rewrite our history if you want, the club were not happy that he would only go to Town after turning Posh and I think Wigan down, hence holding a gun to our heads.

But that's not why he moved.

That's just why he moved to town.

I believe the club didn't want to take the gamble of running his contract down and getting nothing for him, it was debated to death on C&B many were saying we should have called Towns bluff, he might have fired us to the Championship, but for some reason he was adamant that should he leave Town was his only destination.

Buy that's why he want to town.

Why he was sold was because we had to balance to books. Just as we planned.
