Not just an overreaction on here either. There were folk at the game screaming and shouting at the players calling them shit etc.
Some guy even suggesting Power should feck off and not come back. Jeeez I despair with some of our fans.
Like you say, I wonder if there’s such a meltdown in Cardiff.

We are seeing why he has a new club every season i think. He is just far too inconsistent with form and work-rate. One game he looks up for it and like he's going to press every inch of grass, and too often 10 minutes later his shoulders drop and he might as well be taken off.

Plenty of other managers have tried and failed to get a good tune out of the bloke. I just dont see him as a striker really, certainly not a lone striker. Let's face it, our 3 up top isn't clicking lately, the wide men look anonymous in league games and the striker all look like they'd be better in a partnership. Stuff this 2 up top with an attacking mid behind them only when we are chasing, let's try it from the start a few games and see if the wins come back.

It will be interesting to see whether Brad Halliday gets on the bench going forwards. He's down the list of players I would be looking to move on as we transition the squad towards a stronger L1 group.

If we are in the situation that Pennington, Tilt and Joe Wright are injured, leaving us with Kelly, Byrne, Baldwin and MacIntyre then playing 4 at the back might be an option. Playing Halliday at right-back with Neufville in front of him could offer more pace going forwards. We were certainly able to get the press going better, albeit briefly, in the second half when we went 4231.

Neufville can’t beat an egg at the moment.

The only problem with that is that Humphrys, quite clearly isn't a striker.

The facilities impact overall physical condition. Add to that Richards and Wright before prior to joining us have had serious injuries.

I agree, his form has dropped off.

We've lost that pressing snap as a team and not having a settled group of players around him hasn't helped.

Without our best centre backs the three at the back struggles, especially in helping the wing backs get forward which pretty much nulifies any attacking threat we have. Our strikers have been starved of chances lately as our midfield doesn't really create anything. I think your suggestion has merit.

cant see why we don't stop a defensive attitude in the first half nearly every game, come the second half
we do start to move forward a lot more. to up top, with to strikers, and our wingers getting the ball to them.
    not happening at the moment.

Coincidentally Bolton did a Bradford City on…….Bradford City. Their play, style and goals were pretty much how we played in our strong start . Sound back three , strong middle and pace out wide and through the middle .

I just didn’t understand Lapslies position or role after 5 mins in and I still don’t and it’s the morning after the night before.

What was the reasoning other than Halliday is departing ?

Alexander seeing something in Lapslie that I certainly haven't I can only guess. Lapslies selling point for me is his energy and his ability to press in the final third, not being in his own half

That's exactly right and as clear as day. Now every team we play blocks our attacking outlets we've nothing else to offer. Three goals in our last seven games, one of which was a penalty, tells its own story. The question is whether we address these issues in January or the summer. I'd personally wait for the summer but that will mean several months of pretty turgid watching, like last night.

I don't know about that, a good win for any team can breed confidence. Plymouth winning at L Orient is a good win by any team you put out and Port Vale winning five nil at home to Barnsley is still a good result even if the teams have changes.

Not an overreaction in fairness Gaz , rather an acknowledgement that we need an upgrade in Jan and the summer.
We all said before the first fixture , consolidation in the division was key ….We pull of some extraordinary results , coupled with others around us dropping points and find ourselves in a somewhat misleading position. As a result supporters get giddy .
The last half dozen games have been a reality check…

Working better with Humphrys, but not as well as it needs to. Cooky’s not touched ball last three times I’ve seen him, it’s not his fault he gets no service, but unless we switch to two strikers he’s third choice behind Humph and Swan in the main set up.

maybe its time to switch to 4-4-2 as others have said. It seems archaic but with our injury issues it would just suit us best.

    We don’t have three good, fit CBs. We could line up with something like;

Walker, Touray, McIntyre, Baldwin, Halliday; Pointon, Power, Sarcevic, Neufville; Cook, Humphrys/Swan

GA might be loathe to switch the system but we have issues at the minute and need to do something?

Spot on bud its gonna take time to turn us into a decent L1 squad you only have to look at thestruggles of the other 3 that came up with us ...........our actusl problem is the start we had and people getting carried away with it :( our aim this season was to stay in this league and it looks like we are well on the way to doing that .............anything else is a huge bonus

Maybe maybe not , but teams playing squad players or indeed a first 11 playing an opponents squad second 11 isn’t a measure of form . Are you suggesting PV would wallop Barnsley’s best 11 , 5-0 . No , hence my comment .

Every player in this squad can be improved upon, there really are no standout players. Moving up a division you’d have thought we’d have been able to attract a higher calibre of player than we’re used to but I wouldn’t say that’s the case. We’ve arguably got greater strength in depth than in recent seasons and that’s about it.

We’ve got the basis of a half decent team but definitely lack that extra bit of quality in certain areas.
