Reading have just sacked their manager. Is that now Luton, Wycombe, Blackpool, Peterborough and Reading so far this season?

Sounds like Peterborough wont be without a manager for long, Luke Williams is apparently close to being appointed.

Going back to the original use of the thread, we so far have 3 points in October from 9. As do Lincoln so far from their 3 games, all of those finishing 1-0 either way. It's not like we NEED to win at this point and everyone around us is also dropping points, but just coming back with 3 or 4 points from 12 isn't exactly momentum building.

I couldn't believe how naff we were at keeping a clean sheet so far this season. Just 3 clean sheets in 18 games so far this season, which were against Northampton at the start who didn't really go forward, Stoke reserves in the cup with a few good saves from Walker if i remember rightly? And the Blackpool game. Fingers crossed the back line start shutting out soon enough.

Perhaps when our best central defenders return from injury and we have a settled back line we may see more clean sheets.

Or the bigger picture is that after 6/7 years of naff crap league 2 football us being Harrogate towns easy 3 points on many occasions we stand joint top in league 1 ...............playing some of the best football i have seen in years ..............i honestly think a fair few on here and take a reality check because i think not one person believed that we would be gracing this posistion.
If it does go to bits and we drop off then so be it but i can be content that the future looks a lot brighter than it did 12 months ago and folk should remember that.

We weren't really keeping clean sheets when they were fit either to be honest. Dunno how settled we can ever get as GA always tinkers his back 3, seemed to do it a lot last season too, think we only really had Shepherd who started when fit. Crichlow and Kelly switched often, Baldwin and Byrne probably started 20/25 games each, Huntington had spells in and out too. Following trend this season too.

We may not due to the way we play :) still if some folk got what they wanted and we set up not concede and it makes us weaker going forward they would moan about that also.
Me i prefer this way we may concede a few but we will also score a few rather that than dull as dishwater creating fook all hoping that the odd chance that come our way results in a goal

Yeah in my opening post I said i would be happy with 7 points from the month. Obviously that's now impossible but would really like to see a win on Tuesday to stop this mini slump. What's in our favour is no one has really capitalised around us. In the context of our opponents and the amount of injuries around us we're still in the hunt so I will take that. Yes we've not won in 3 league games but we've also not lost so it's 3 points gained. Win tomorrow and get back on track!

Totally agreed on defence too, we need to shore things up, all the injuries won't have helped, fingers crossed we can get first choicers back in soon.

Yeah i said 5 points at worst 7 at best from October, a good win tomorrow and we are back in business. I cant imagine we have gone 4 league games without a win too many times under GA so far? Bound to bring it back soon enough.

I don't think we've had a settled back line at any time since moving to the 3 CB tactic? Lots of chop and change with injuries but even when people have been fit he has rotated often. Looking at last seasons numbers, Shepherd and Baldwin were the most used CBs we had in L2, but they only started 18 of the 46 games in the same back 3, they only both played the full 90 minutes on 11 occasions. Looks like the back 3 with GA are horses for courses a bit like the front line are too?

Add Reading to Poshs "close to a new boss" list, sounds like Reading are in talks with Leam Richardson. Former Rotherham and Wigan manager, i think he was linked to us when Hughes was sacked?

Yeah that's a good point actually on the defence, as per that other thread on who's our best 3 central defenders, opinions differ a lot. Horses for courses works to a degree but it'd be good to have a mainstay - i do think that would be Baldwin if fit.

Yup. I think Baldwin is the ever present central defender when fit, because he’s good in the air and can hit those exocet diagonals to both wing backs better than anyone else.
I think Penno is first choice right CB when fit because he’s is reasonably quick, reads the game well, can bring the ball forward and links very well with Neufville.
Left CB is more of a revolving door between McIntyre, Kelly and Tilt, depending on the opposition.

    I don’t care if it’s 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 4-3, 5-4 as long as we keep adding points that’s fine by me.

    Port Vale v Stockport later.

I'll probably watch it. Could do with a Port Vale win, but they've been struggling at home.

How is it a mini slump ????
I get if we had been beat and where playing poorly but are we ????
Our forwards take there chances and we could easily be on 7 points ................its 3 tough games and two of them teams have decent home records and the other produced a goal that none us will probably never see again.
That is far from any kind if slump

Slump my bottom …..First class form considering
    The opponent
    Injuries
    Two worldies

Not one of us or the EFL membership would have said BCAFC would only lose one game thus far . A ludicrous comment to be kind!

I can see where you get your name from I wasn't fishing for an argument. I said mini slump just cos we've not won in the last 3 league games and in the context of how we've been doing that does constitute a drop in form in terms of points on the board. We're also unbeaten in 3, all about perspective.

Get a win on Tuesday and move on
