He’s brilliant for that last 20-30 mins , I personally would use him sparingly, ( As GA and the staff are doing) like yesterday .Lets be honest he’s not fully recovered nor match fit . I think we are doing him a disservice if we think otherwise.

 

Metcalf will be a go to midfielder within the next 10 games alongside Power. However after a settled defence based on your proposal it will be horses for courses for the rest of the 11 . The “ squad” will become more and more crucial at the onset of November through to Feb.

 

Most of the team picks itself. Touray is very impressive at either lwb or lcb, i think the back three are stronger with him in it but ultimately for me he's the best lwb in league one. A back three then of McIntyre, Wright and Baldwin. Nuefville without question at rwb.
Power the first name on the team sheet, either Pattison or Metcalfe as his partner, nothing to choose between them.
Front three of Sarcevic, Pointon then Swan or Cook.
If all these are available no one gets a start.

 

End of the day its one great problem to have.

 

Surprised to see Pennington been left out on here, he's been our best CB so far.

He looks fitter than ever. He actually looks sharper and quicker than he did before the injury.

Nah….Horses for courses at different parts of the 100 minutes . I think a lot are beginning to realise tbh?

 

Completely forgot about him, definitely has to start, probably instead of Joe Wright in my previous post.

 

I'd be starting him against Piergianni next weekend over any of our pack. Our strikers are all pretty different in their strengths and all will have their role to play.

With Stevenages physical 2 CBs, I'd have our biggest physical striker playing and bring pace on for the last 20/30 (or last 5 knowing GA and his changes). But when we play a team with a back 3 and some quick CBs on their sheet, Cook gets 20 to be a target at the end if we need a goal. Horses for courses.

 

For me, the first choice back three is McIntyre, Baldwin and Pennington.

 

Walker
Pennington - Baldwin - Mcintyre
Neufville - Touray
Sarcevic - Swan - Pointon

In January, my priority would be to strengthen our central midfield options by bringing 1 more in for that area.

 

Let's put it this way, if the chances that Humphrys, Swan and Kavanagh have had in the last two league games had fallen to Cook he'd probably be league ones top scorer right now.

We also noticeably improved during the second half once Cook gave us the focal point and made the ball stick.

But yeah, he doesn't press enough or summat so sticking the ball in the net doesn't even count.

 

Add Power and Metcalfe to that and that would be my starting line up.
