He's also saying they went for Wellens and were put off by his 7 figure release fee. Sounds like nonsense to me, to "approach" two managers who are in work just to be put off by the fees involved. And even then to scrap that approach and hire an out of work novice in the management game.

I never felt there was any genuine threat of him leaving, the new contract gives us insurance.

Be interesting to see how Wilshire does given that it's his first managerial appointment.

Not sure as a Luton fan he would have been my choice, IMO a big risk, Luton fans aren't happy with where they are in the league at the moment if Wilshire doesn't get off to a good start it won't take long for them to get on his back and as you say with it being his first managerial job it will be interesting to see how he reacts ‘The buck stops here’ Jack.

He does have Chris Powell in as assistant so he's got a lot of experience, but I still think it seems a bit risky for a team really not wanting to hang around in league 1.

The only one who is currently a starter out of those three is Bobby. Lapslie put in a great performance against the U21’s and could be shoe horned in.

Think Sharpe has had a massive bearing on that.

Best it’s been for many a year imho. It would be unfair to single out any of them , but I will anyway.

Neufville and Metcalfe , both absolute masterstrokes over time and both on 3 year deals . Sharpe ain’t a mug!

I think Rotherham did show at times that Power is needed in that midfield to keep it all together, but Pattison that day and yesterday and Metcalfe yesterday too gave GA enough headaches for the midfield selection on Saturday. Think I'd go for Pattison.

Other day i had a lower league podcast on at work and they were talking about how this season especially they are noticing a lot of home performers in L1 & L2 this season who show up in front of their fans but maybe not away as often so far. Pointon immediately came to mind, i think he's only got 1 away assist in league football for City in his career so far but another who has a good return often at VP is Patto. In league games for City, Alex Pattison has 33 starts, 16 of those at VP and he's unbeaten in all 16 starts with 12 league wins also 5 goals and an assist in those 16, think he went off injured in 2 or 3 too including Hudds recently. He has a good record away from home too for us but i didn't realise how well he plays at VP.

I like Lapslie but just dont see how he makes the 18 on a match day anymore. GA has struggled to find him game time in recent weeks and with Kavanagh back, thats another shirt he has to fight for on the bench.

When and if Touray takes back the LWB spot, or Richards gets that shirt, thats Tyriek back on the bench making things even harder for Lapslie.
