Reminds us of the Platt/ Lewis/ Wells conversations somewhat Adrian? They all do it for the money, shock, who can blame them ?

 

I’m absolutely buzzing to be honest. I can't really believe my luck to have a side this size come in for me. As soon as I knew I had a chance to get here I just to tried to grab it with both hands.

An absolute cliche.

 

Hopefully a player or 7.

 

This feels like another lazy signing from us- it just feels like we go for the easy name known to someone at the club rather than trying to scout for the hidden gems. Hopefully I’m wrong but signing a player who has failed to get promotion at two heavily fancied sides for this level doesn’t really excite me (and I’ve also never been impressed when he’s played against us).

 

Gillingham were only heavily fancied by Gillingham fans and some on here that think chucking vast amounts of money at a problem makes clubs “ fancied” . It depends how it’s used, and Gills changing managers randomly tells you what we need to know. Not a settled side , furnished by a previous manager who played a different style.


You mustn’t have seen him often , he’s been a thorn in our side since 2019 from memory. Let’s say again Mansfield under Clough offered him two improved contracts to STAY and he still turned them down for US dollars.

 

Why have we signed this bloke? Can he fix the big issues we have at CB? We need two new CBs to play alongside Kelly really.

What are you expecting from me? Seriously, any player we sign is generally written off before they've kicked a ball for us by the same posters on here each time. Give the lad a chance he might be crap but he might just be a gem and I'm sure the club have done their homework on him and I trust them to get it right.

Can't wait for today's game! Grimsby always bring a few and hopefully we'll get a positive result.
Hopefully he'll get some minutes and get the chance to prove fans, (sorry people like you who desperate for it to go tits up) wrong.

These comments are hilarious. Those fans who you deride are proven to be right with 99% of the signings who walk through the door, whilst the likes of you and Park are left with egg on your face for clapping yet another failure of a signing masquerading as a professional footballer.

 

That probably goes for most loanees tbf. Top quality loans , if there is such a thing , tend to go to clubs who will pick up the players CC wages in full , Stockport’s, Mansfield, Chesterfield etc or are up there at the top. If only it was a level playing field , but due to owners lack of investment , we won’t get the quality ones even where they become available .

 

Never felt like I've hot egg on my face for supporting the players.

Honest of Graham to say he made a mistake not giving Lapslie game time at Newcastle when the player had been involved in previous cup games. Another thing he picks up on is his attitude when not playing, I'd noticed at games despite not being in the playing squad he was still supportive in encouraging the team. I think he'll admit he ain't the most technically gifted of players but that attitude and 100% effort every game is a mangers dream.

 

Rogered better choice than Leigh methinks..... but I will rely on GA knowledge ...he sees them every day..

 

Lapslie is out of the same mould as Halliday I reckon. Total team player, willing to do whatever is asked and will give 100% doing it. I'm really not sure why he's not getting game time at the moment, but it's a long season and I'm sure he'll get a chance at some point.

 

I get the same vibe from him too and totally agree, he's not going to be a first on the team sheet player, but sure he'll have opportunities

 

I would have him over Powell and Humphrys as neither of them looks bothered. Lapslie gives his all on the pitch and has even chipped in with a few important goals last season, plus arguably being the scorer to seal our promotion last season...

 

Lapslie might not be the best midfielder but his runs into the box are consistently high quality.

I'd rather have him on the bench than Humphrys right now for sure.

 

I would definitely have Lapslie over Powell, struggling to see what he brings us, not so sure about over Humphrys though

 

Agreed, Humphrys seems a bit of a greedy maverick to me. Nothing wrong with having one of them in the squad, he’s had a few shots that have hit the woodwork or the keeper has spilled them. Powell is reminding me of an Andy Gray second time around or Luke James, I’m not even sure he looks like having a shot let alone scoring.
