Yep, I was there that day. Pitch was solid ice and I just remember that halfway down the standing area behind the goal there was a huge drop in the concrete. So dangerous when packed out with city supporters.
I am sure Hawley missed a hatful that day?

That game should never have gone ahead as you say it was like an ice rink, luckily none of the players we injured and ultimately we had bigger fish to fry that season.

 

That vid doesn’t do it justice. It was white over when we arrived an hour before kick off.

 

Driving down was a nightmare, then when you got out of the car you grabbed the nearest thing that was bolted to the ground you're correct the video doesn't do the conditions justice.

Yes according to Stuart he was selected for an England game and was on the bench, he never got on and then made the call to play for Scotland, I think he made the right call in the end.

 

I'm sure I recollect he missed Sunderland away for this, my 1st time at Roker park and we lost to a last minute Eric Gates goal. Or maybe just my old age ?
