I wonder if the club will think about the concrete walls around the pitch given the outcome of this incident, and incidents in the past due to similar setups leading to injuries.

Obviously this risk is low given the amount of football that has been played since VP reopened in 1986, but when you’re talking about the death of a player it makes you think.

If anyone is going on Dragons Den soon how about some protective advertising hoardings.

It must be possible to advertise on padded material and these could be added to every ground at not only no cost, but potentially be a revenue raiser.

If you make it rich off my idea, feel free to pop some brass intimate the burns unit and drop Karl a tenner to keep the forum going

I do recall that quite a few years ago (during that dreadful post premier league pre Parky era) that there was a player for the opposition who had to jump over the advertising hoarding at the Bradford End, clipped their foot and smashed their face on the concrete walls.
It was horrible then and reflecting on this he was lucky.

I'm on the case already. If it comes to fruition and hopefully it will, I'll go even further. I'll pay credit to you by naming it The Monkey Wall! :)

We had one at VP earlier than that when Gus Uhlenbeek was red carded (I think) when he shoved Richard Cresswell into the concrete wall at the Bradford end.

Cresswell was knocked out and broke his cheekbone I believe.

I remember Alec Smith the BCAFC full back, tackling the opposition winger and the winger finished outside/ over the wall in the crowd.

Didn't even get a card as far as I remember.

Last time the winger tried to get passed Alec on the outside.

Didn't stubbs collide with the wall in front of the main stand after a challenge, also can't remember who but I'm sure we lost a player for a while after being run into the hoarding whilst attacking. (Maybe Pritchard)

Didn't something happen at Tranmere when our winger got taken out?

Anyone recall James Hanson’s close shave with the concrete wall against Millwall at home in the 3rd of the FA Cup in 2015?

Think Parkinson/Parkin saw red for their reaction to it.

What a game, by the way!

If it was the 1-1 game then he didn’t even get a yellow.

Graham Alexander scored their goal in that game as well.

And not to go off topic too much, I noticed this game from the season after when GA got sent off at VP! Lucketti also played that day.

    Huh.

I had no idea Michael Branch was born Paul Michael Branch, hence the P Branch.

Yes it was and the other player could have been Chapman not Pritchard

Isnt the concrete wall in front of the main stand some form of supporting wall as opposed to a barrier, not sure how we'd accommodate any changes for that

Sure it was brought up at some point when discussing some drainage issue

Even if it was able to be removed I think the risk of it is very low as it's a fair distance back from the pitch and if a player was sliding towards it they would hit the advertising boards first which would take the force of it. The big problem in non-league with these walls is that they are very close to the edge of the pitch with nothing in front of them

Do the walls have to be removed ???
Would it not make more sense to put some type of cushioning over them ????
