He desperately needs a goal yes he should have done better with the header but due to the opposition he got very little of the ball and was chasing shadows. Maybe once we get his tonsils removed (as it will be affecting him) then he can get back to his early season form where he was pretty good.

I had a Geordie mate texting me in the ground and he said no premier team supporters made as much noise as we did. Absolute class was the words he used. Great atmosphere in there last night and being able to get a pint and food within 10 minutes was a bonus.

One slight moan about Powell. What exactly does he bring? He's made a few cameo roles but I just don't get him. Expected more overall (not just last night), but he's coasting through games for me.

Fully agree. I actually thought he had moments last night (touches, turns) where he did well and brought other players in to create attacks. Indeed he should score his header, he will know that.

In general I find with him that sometimes he needs to release the ball quicker. There was a moment early in the first half where Halliday was free and it needed to go, but he held on too long. In the end I think we still created a chance (Pointon’s deflected shot maybe?) but find this is something he’s a little guilty for.

You can sense he’s as frustrated as perhaps we are, but let’s not start singling him out. There’s a very very decent player IMO and still believe once he scores from more open play, more will come.

All this said, he’s definitely behind Swan ATM.

Inevitable in a way I suppose, even when we brought on our better players we couldn't get hold of the ball much but no disgrace, we didn't capitulate and tried our best. Beaten by a far better side who we can only aspire to emulate one day.
Proud of the support, they were vocal throughout and glad there's no meltdown this morning. Meanwhile... over on DATM.

    Boy they were good.
Gave us much respect playing that team, it was better than the one they put out last weekend in the Premier league.
Onwards onto the day job for Saturday and getting 3 pts

Wednesday hasn't been the day off for a while now, that's when they usually do the pressers for the Saturday game with Thursday the usual day off these days.

Ah right never knew that. I presumed as midweek games are usually Tuesday Wednesday would be the day off.

Totally agree, they were a class act all over the pitch - fast, creative, physically super fit and to their credit (and ours) they didn't let up once in the 90+ minutes.
Felt a bit for our lads who have hardly played, that was a mighty tough ask trying to compete with such a quality team.
So pleased for Cookie, big Sam was brilliant, our fans were tremendous - now back to the day job

We have the second lowest possession rate in the league so were never going to see much of the ball unfortunately. As Eddie Howe said we have a different way of playing to most other teams, where the aim is to get the ball forward quickly. Whilst it works in the league at the moment, it’s something we may have to think about in future.

sadly i have to agree he seems to have zero killer instinct to put away any goal scoring opportunities

They picked us apart at times, but so they should.

That goal where Bruno slid it in to Joelinton, how's he seen that? I didn't even see it, and I was behind it.... and as my mate said... they both play for Brazil.

We didn't lose any credit last night—players, fans, everything about this club.

I was extremely pleased for Cooky. What a goal. When he came on, we held the ball better up top, and he won more than Humps did.

    Another gem

“The same guys who's Bradford team got absolutely battered tonight by Newcastle? Conceded similar possession stats than what we did against a team who is notorious for more possession based football than Newcastle? Conceded more shots. Similar touches in the box. Got it.

Graham Alexander. The great Saviour. [IMG]

He mustn’t have realised the dogs got beat and didn’t score, struggled to sell tickets and Man City brought kids on in the second half. They had zero shots on target . Blinkered ? Meh!

I disagree Kev, he is not a ball winning midfielder. Pattison is more aggressive and scores more

We had a few pints in a bar opposite the ground after the game and Newcastle fans were coming up to us and praising our fan base as making more noise than anyone probably apart Sunderland will this season for obvious reasons. Everyone brought up the "city of culture" chant as the funniest things they've heard in ages. A bloke said he knew Cook through some family link of his wife and said he was made up for him when he scored.

Still cant get over the athleticism difference between our squad and Newcastle. I thought Neufville was fast, but there was a sprint he had against Livramento and Neufville looked to be going full tilt whilst Livramento was almost in second gear. The speed and precision they can pop it about with through the midfield was just daft to watch, top level footballers this day n age are a bit sharp aren't they?

We gave a good account of ourselves on and off the pitch and move onto Blackpool now!

I hope not if I'm honest. Alexander's style is exciting and entertaining most of the time whereas Mark Hughes possession based style was often very, very dull and produced very little attacking threat in a large amount of games. If it wasn't for Cook being so clinical I honestly think we'd have been lower mid table.
