Was it indeed “ mis-management” of Bobby or imho, GA using his football experience? I’d say the latter, no question.

It’s easy to say he was proven correct?

he was badly mismanaged IMO. He ran the show against Wrexham at home but soon found himself back on the bench.

There was a false narrative that he was ‘an impact sub’ but that’s bollocks, just as it was with Nahki!

I don’t know how he trains, but GA didn’t trust him with enough minutes initially.

bobby has kept his head down and deserves the credit for progressing with GAs input but he’s would have progressed quicker had GA trusted him over his less effective alternatives!

i don’t want to turn this into a ‘bash GA’ thread as he’s doing great and overall doing great things right now. The progression of Bobby is more in spite of GA than because of him, and suggesting otherwise is giving GA too much credit and re-writing history.

I think it was more when he did play him he didn't play him in his most effective position, same with Sarcevic who he had in central midfield a couple of times. Had Bobby in a midfield 5 before going with the now tried and tested 3-4-2-1 to a point where Alexander has now nailed our go to formation. I mentioned a few weeks ago Swan should be the starting number 9 and hes been a revelation in that position, his workrate essential in a front press.

The old 'impact sub' bollocks i hear touted. The point i was making with Swan, your best players start the game when they have the best chance to influence a game.

I can’t agree either way, what is evident, is whatever the cause, it’s worked out well.

Well I think Swan is just fantastic. He gave Cardiff defenders a torrid time yesterday. He has a great character. Just love him.

He has a good football brain. His movement takes defenders out of their comfort zone and as well as scoring, he makes well thought out assists. Has he 3 now?

There's a few of our current squad that could gain legendary status and Swan is right up there.

Always looked a good signing. If Nigel Clough is singing your praises, you're usually decent. Did well with goals and assists in a team who struggled all last season - which is never easy, because you are under even more pressure to contribute.

In fairness, if you read what Mansfield fans were saying about him two seasons ago, it's the same as what we say about Kav now.

It shows that players naturally improve, if they've got something about them and we're benefiting with Swan.

Gives us hope that Kav could have similar scope going forward.

Yes. Very similar players. Kav kind of stepped up and did, after Xmas last year, what Swan did in the same period when Mansfield went up.

It'll be good to get Kav back.

Possibly but i just dont see him getting games when the others are fit. You could argue 4th choice but Swan, Cook and Humphrys will all be ahead IMO.

Kavanagh will really have to take his chance when he gets it.

He's well suited to the set up we've adopted. High press, force errors, encourage other attackers to capitalise. It's worked a treat.

Don’t agree young players need to be handled carefully and the rigours of first team football can take it out on young players. The way he is playing now is a testament to that

Yes we saw that last season.....but is he good enough on the ball and in front of goal for L1? Swan is miles ahead in terms of quality.

Does he get in the full 18 when we are fully fit? Very much doubtful.

Probably not. But as the season wears on we are unlikely to have all our strikers fully fit all the time so I’m sure Kav will get chances.

I was in favour of Kav going on loan till Jan. Better for him and us to have him getting game time, probably in League 2.

Some players excel exploiting the gaps which naturally occur with tired players

Foden didn't get much game time at first when he was clearly talented. Playing a youngster, when the team is struggling is a big risk. We hardly have a good history as a club in supporting the more technical local youngsters when they get first team action.
