More interested that someone is paying £700k a year for the back of the shirt. JCT must be paying more for the front.

 

Way I read it was commercial income is at £2.1m a season currently....

The American market is certainly a good area for the club to explore, as it could lead to increased merchandise sales in America with our increased global awareness through this new sponsor.

Also, especially as there are more Americans wanting to invest in English football, it could lead to potentially some American investment through a minority stake or even a full takeover. Not saying Rupp will sell, or any parties would be actually interested due to this sponsor, but with Football, you never know.

I certainly don't mind Rupp now, as he's put his money where his mouth is and we are on a positive path.

Hahahaha Sparks and his Speedboat/oil tanker analogy. He's been using that for years, i know a couple of people who have been for an informal chat in his office years back and he used it then. Turning the oil tanker around does take years but thats based on admitting where your failures are and a huge slice of luck. His biggest decision has been to bring David Sharpe in, now the club seems to finally have a coherent recruitment policy to go with a manager who has worked out a system to use them. Wasn't always the case under Sparks, fliting from manager to manager because the guy paid to run the oil tanker company was out of his depth.
This ain't an attack on Sparks as such, i think he's doing the job he was recruited for after some rocky years. But the biggest credit that seems a little overlooked in the article is that it was the clubs fans sticking by the club when it was on its arse that allowed us a competitive budget when Rupp took little notice, both he and Sparks can now ride the waves of success but without that fanbase this club is nothing.

 

We've spent so long in the wilderness, to be seeing an experiencing a genuine resurgence, and for that resurgence to be getting more and more attention is heart warming. What's key, is that we use this momentum as a catalyst for continued progression, investment and whether it's this year or next (or the next) that we get this club back into the championship

Always strike while the iron is hot as they say. Important now we strive for continued growth as a business, filling those empty seats, aiming for more full houses, looking into more corporate seating etc.

 

Not impressed with the needlessly dismissive “small pre-match protest” comment. I think (personal opinion only) that the protest was significant in the change of approach.
