Meant to say a few months….,

GA on Curtis Tilt - He has had an operation on his hamstring and will be out for a few months. It was a really unfortunate injury and we are all disappointed to be without him because he has made a great start here.

That's bad news. He will be missed.
Hopefully we will get Wright back soon and McIntyre if he's up to speed.

Shame …. Let’s hope it’s a speedy recovery. I know GA likes rotation but a settled back three is critical . ( imho)

I can't say I'm surprised. Tilt is 34 and our players are asked to play at a very intense level, which is going to increase the likelihood of muscle injuries in all of our player but particularly the older ones.

Hopefully McIntyre is up to it because Kelly certainly isn't.

Touray played immense at LCB and Wright probably had his best game in a City shirt at LWB. Hopefully it wasnt a one off, but Neufville has played LWB too if we wanted to keep Touray in the back 3. So hopefully Tilt isn't too much of a miss.

Cant imagine Kelly starting at LCB in L1 again, Byrne trying this level for the first time at 32 in a pressing team could be a laugh too. Need McIntyre to come good.

    I was thinking similar.

He said something early in the season about having to learn a new way of playing. Perhaps it turned out to be too much for him in such a short space of time.

    Shame, as he's been good.

I think Touray possibly got the nod because it was well known Hudders didn’t have height up front , would he be as effective against big lads?

Gutted for Tilt as he started well, it will be interesting to see how we play it whilst he's out. Cardiff play a similar way to Huddersfield but they do have a 6ft 3 striker so it could make us think twice about playing Touray there.

Thankfully the next midweek league game (ignoring the Rotherham) is in December so we'll be able to give players a run of starts. Ideally we could have done with the Everton u21 game being in 2 weeks time which would have been a perfect opportunity to give McIntyre a start. Unless we got in a behind closed doors game this week I don't think we'll be able to get one for next week or the week after due to the schedule to give him more minutes.

Any update on Lewis Richards? Need him back asap if Touray is our LCB.

Ah this is a blow, both for player and ourselves. Gutted for Tilt.

However this is the reason Kelly’s contract was extended and why we brought McIntyre in. Time for Kelly to step up or McIntyre to step in. Reports from a big Pompy fan mate of mine said he’s really decent - suspect he could be come the primary cover here, especially if Kelly continues to show inconsistency.

The fitness of Pennington, Wright and Baldwin becomes ever more important.

Has there been any news on Baldwin since he went off injured on Saturday?

Not really a worry for me. So far for us the central CB has gone up against the "big lad", Joe Wright will be back for long balls soon. But tbf how many teams in L1 so far use a big man? Not noticed too many.

Looking at the long ball stats, there us, Northampton, Wimbledon, Lincoln, Stevenage & Rotherham that use the long ball the most in ratio to short passes. And I wouldn't say we are a long ball side, but we're in the top 5. Hoofing it to a unit isn't massively a tactic at this level so far this season.

Most of our long balls are targeted diagonals to the wing backs rather than central hoofs to a target man, since we aren’t playing with one.

Totally agree , but we are not a long ball side in the old fashioned sense , the game has moved on .
We don’t hoof to a “ unit” , rather pass longer to run the channels or create space or gain territory. Lumping it to a
“head” , ala Jim Hanson style is not the same tactic .

Not deemed good enough for any of the “ cups “ , so consideration for the league is out of the question .
