Unoccupied Seats/No Show Season Ticket Holders (with Poll)

Empty but sold Seats. What should happen

  1. Nothing. You have paid it is your right to attend or not

  2. No Show for two games? Suspend the ticket, threaten with withdrawl

  3. Frankly my dear I couldn’t give a damn

  4. Season Tickets are compulsory/mandatory attendance.

    It would be great if there was a process for ST holders to return their seat for these type of big games if they can’t make it so that others can attend.

    Realistically that isn’t likely to happen until the stadium has sold the full quota of Season Tickets, and there is in effect a waiting list.
    I would guess that with just over 3 days to go and that there are probably 400 tickets still on sale, there isn’t the demand. The club don’t appear to have removed the covers from the bottom three rows of the Kop so another, 420+ seats there.
    I would think the logistics would be problematical and a complex special programme devised to: return-refund-resale, which maybe needed once or twice a season.
    If we sold 20,000+ Season Tickets and were in the Championship, it may well be worth revisiting.
    At present everyone who wants a ticket can still buy one.

    Maybe you’re right and currently there is no motive for any fan to make the effort of advising the club their seat is available.

    Amongst hundreds of others across the whole stadium. That’s my point but as @Bigrod@Bigrod says it’s difficult to manage currently.
    We keep telling ourselves the stadium is full and tickets sold out but when I look down towards the main stand from the kop I see sometimes 4 or more seats together in a row not occupied.
    Who are these people that hardly ever attend?

    In the last 20 years, how many times would I have needed to return my ticket just so someone else could attend?

    I bet the answer isn't more than once (Fleetwood) so it would be a completely unnecessary system.

    Agree, currently there is no need and no motive for you to do so.
    But let’s not kid ourselves there will be over 24000 in the ground on Saturday. There won’t be.

    So twice in 20 years then?

    I'd imagine it'll have to happen at least 10 times a season for a good few seasons in a row to even make it worth debating.

    Now that we are at a position where almost all premium seats in the ground are sold to ST holders it’s worth debating why so many seats are left unoccupied on match days.
    If it’s the same seats every week then the club will surely know this and could take steps to remediate.

    We are not unique.
    Happens in every stadium.
    We all know the clubs use ‘tickets’ sold rather than supporters actually in the stadium, for ‘attendance’ figures.

    You don’t really know how it works do you and yes I go back way further than you and have seen how a winning side or a derby game brings in “interested”, “floating”, “casual” support. To criticise as if you are something special because you put “loyal” in your moniker is frankly daft . Do you think the extra 22 k above the lowest attendance I have been in at VP are all casuals?

    Did you miss the bit where I said it’s GREAT to have another full house?
    My ‘criticism’ came off the back of @chris mac@chris mac comment about fair weather fans coming out the woodwork.
    It’s true, they have and as you say will always do so for big games.

    Mines empty because I can't make every game but when I can make it I want to sit with the same friends and family that I've sat with for the last 20 years.

    What steps exactly do you think the club should take given that I've paid for my ticket that I've held since the ground re-opened?

    Don’t use the words “ casuals” or “fair weather “ then , the fact you claim you go more than most does not make you special, nor entitles you or anyone else to denegrate people who can’t go to all the games . You have zero idea what their circumstances are .

    Guess it’s your choice. Nothing the club can do at the moment. Like you say, you’ve paid for a full adult ticket. I don’t know how many games you miss but it seems odd to ‘reserve’ a seat for the odd time you wish to use it.
    Out of interest, would you still do the same if ticket prices were higher?
