I wonder how much the pay off is with the lads? 3months wages? 6months?

 

Very last minute. Must have got a last minute deal.

 

Oduor, Smith & Wilson all gone in the same window. No money in for any, but still, getting the dead weight off the books is a good thing.

We should still have a gap in the registration block too in case we need a freebie down the line.

 

Probably cost us a few hundred K to get rid but saved a few hundred K as well.

 

Perhaps the case the club has decided that paying them off is better for the harmony of the squad, than it is having two players not playing, utilising club resources, potentially disturbing the mood (I am not saying they were doing this BTW).

Regardless, the outcome is the best for all.
Have to wonder if the outcome for Smith is he has an element of financial security to be open to deals that weren’t as lucrative without the payoff (eg Barrow’s offer in per season)?

 

Yeah, if he gets 15 chances in a game one will go in.

 

Sounds like there was some late negotiations with Smith/his agent and the club to agree the final package as it didn't seem to be likely this morning from the reports. Right move for everyone involved, if he has got a nice pay off from the club then it probably helps him to find another club as he can afford to lower his wage demands a bit

 

"Gets a nice pay off for being shit" That's what's so wrong with professional football managers especially.

I gleamed a bit just reading their forum and they can’t afford to get relegated , hence the panic. It’s no secret he wants out and wishes to sell.

 

I imagine that a 'mutual' termination agreement was offered earlier with terms that favour the club. The player hangs on to see what offers he can get then at the last minute realises he can stagnate in the stiffs and see out his contract or take the deal and hope to get a new club asap. That could be why it gets announced so close to the deadline. Either way, I have absolute sympathy with the player and their need to earn a living. He accepted the contract in good faith. Good luck to all three of Oduor, Wilson, and Smith.

 

Poku went to QPR instead of Rangers , they just paid compensation for development fees of £900,000 according to the net . Is that the one? Posh were livid at the outcome. . They quoted Birmingham City …………..£10m!!

 

Fernandez went to Glasgow Rangers, rumoured £3.5m

 

Tom McIntyre now confirmed on a season long loan from Pompey.

Should provide good competition for central defence.

Impresses this season and Im sure we may be looking at permanent next summer.

People keep criticising Kelly and I think he gets a raw deal. He’s a very steady defender and worthwhile member of the team.

As for Tom McIntyre….. to be honest I’ve never heard of him so can’t offer an opinion. But welcome all the same!
