Didn't Peter Thorne also have a decent shot on him. And also Jimmy Quinn-recall him warming up in front of the old Kop-late 80's and smacking the ball like an exocet missile.

Not sure i've seen anyone hit at City hit a ball like Jimmy Quinn, i still remember turning up to play Barnsley at VP and being told he'd gone to West Ham. Was gutted.

Trouble was he had to move afterwards, many of us down here still remember "The Tree" fondly

Very good article in the T&A today about Humphrys.

GA explains that they had been chasing him a while and had quite a few interesting chats with the player.

Basically GA saying that although Humphrys has had a decent career so far, he feels the player hasn't peaked yet as a player and that he feels he should be pushing harder this season with us to fulfil his real potential.

I get the impression he is a player who needs pushing all the time, especially fitness wise.

That’s what my Barnsley mate feels. Great on his day for them but didn’t always perform. At his age, think this is an important move for him.

Yes it’s very good…..That’s due diligence in spades . It does seem his previous fitness coaching team were a tad lax , yet he still turned up with a nine goal return whilst being played out of position on occasions .
Isn’t it a sad that the Barnsley coach freely admit they allowed his fitness levels to drift throughout the season ? That’s how I read it.

A mutual benefit. Get the feeling Humphrys will be a crowd favourite on his day but very frustrating too.

I like him, but can understand why he's seemingly already dividing opinion a bit, and you can see why he's in league one when his finishing and decision making are a bit questionable.

But physically he's a real handful, holds the ball up well, has a turn of pace and a bit of trickery, plus the versatility to be used across the front three.

You do sense he could be a bit of a challenge psychologically for GA, but I'm hopeful he fires as he could be really good for us going forward. Think a goal will massively help him too.

I just think playing him from the left, where he did well for Barnsley at this level is all it needs. It always sounds so simple but play players in their most effective positions and you'll always get a more positive contribution in the long run.

Not rocket science is it? Leigh and Tyreik now being played in their favoured positions and surprise, surprise, we're starting to see what they can actually offer.

sounds like Swan played well last night, could see him coming into the middle with Humphrys to the left, or maybe bench him - wouldn't mind Humphrys coming on with a point to prove

This may surprise some , Hump on the left, Swan in the “ middle” and Sarcevic on the right. Bobby on the bench?

Last night with the one chance he had he did everything right until it came to the shot which was more of a back pass. He looks to lack confidence shooting. His general demeanour didn’t look great either I thought with a chance to play in his favoured position would motivate him to give everything but that wasn’t the case

I thought when he came on last night, he was played down the middle again and Swan went out left? Might be mistaken though.

I thought the same when he came on he looked a bit disinterested compared to everyone else , he hopefully knows what Alexander will do if hes not putting 100 per cent in

No not really to be honest i could see that. If we're looking at either hump or Bobby coming on for the last 20 - 30 minutes both give us good options.
