I've been pacing around constantly since Monday morning. I've told my wife the season starts on Saturday about 37 times. Tomorrow is going to drag.

It's my daughter's first season with a season ticket. On Saturday morning I plan to give her a 4 hour lecture on the key moments in our recent history 88-25. Clipboard and everything, after which I will present her with her first City shirt which has her name on the back.

 

Over 19000 tickets sold to home fans so far, 500 or so from Wycombe, we could be looking at 20000 on Saturday

 

Really, Always used to eagerly await day 1 , especially if it was away. Best ever was Carlisle away back in the day. Lots of fancy dress too .We won first game of 85/6 without checking after promotion .

 

One of my favourite away games at Carlisle, first game after the fire, we won 2-0 if I recall correctly.

I remember stopping off at Settle on way up and it was rammed with City fans

i got told off to night ,by the other half for saying the season starts on saturday ,saying i have said it loads of times .

Just seen Ryan Tafazolli do a walkaround of the new training centre at Wycombe, over £10 million spent. Theres some serious clubs in league 1 with serious spending power, Saturday is gonna be a real test.

 

I’d settle for a bore draw against Wycombe.


Especially as I’m not able to be at the game.

Haha yep. Like I mentioned, its exactly the same. I'm not even telling her for information, I just like saying it out loud.

 

£10m doesn't seem a huge amount. Hopefully something we can aspire to.

They've recently (ish) being a championship club, not sure how much extra cash that equated to. But they're usually top end of the table trying to get back there!

Last set of account show a loss of over £2.6M on the 2023-2024 season and overall losses of over £13M.
Nowt for a Billionaire but not quite sure they could stand on their own feet.

I commend their owner for investing in their future. Your first sentence sums it up perfectly, i didn't write the post as a stick to beat the club with, merely pointing out the depth of financial backing some clubs have in this division. As you say its something we should aspire to.

 

If they sell Kone then yes for this season ?

 

The same for most clubs in the higher divisions now.
