Summer 2025 transfer rumours

Just our luck that for the first time in a while a NL team hasn't been promoted after spending daft money to get out of it. Apparently Chesterfield are still on the hunt for a striker to make up the numbers, Grigg and Madden are 34/35 now and outside of them they have a striker they brought in from Europe. Might be a slot? He's Sheffield based too i think?

 

Hopefully his agent is bombarding them with phone calls!

 

Think we are trying to move on through a transfer but as we get closer to the deadline we will probably be more open to a loan move.

There is lots of business to do be done yet in the EFL so heres hoping.

If that’s the case then he will join the list of non contracted players at seasons end without a club, and won’t get one either ….Managers do talk to each other , so if it’s a training issue then word could get around.

When you see clips of training vids , when you see short snippets of players who appear to be ambling about , Smith in his hamstring supports and Odour ? Just a casual observation , but there could be something in this “ training” issue ?
At the end of the day only the player and coaching staff know , but one has to ask oneself why the continual sidelining ?

 

Or not whilst they are sitting on a decent wage and the agent getting a cut?

One thing I’ve noticed since Sharpe joined the club is we don’t pay players off anymore. If they’ve to sit in the stands because they won’t move, so be it. I’d imagine those on the fringes have just had a promotion increase making it even harder to get a like for like contract elsewhere.

 

It'll be even harder to get a contract somewhere if they have no current contract and they have just spent a year sitting in the stand;
1) they are desperately short of game time
2) they are not too fussed about playing anyway

 

Smith doesn’t fit into GA style playing one up doesn’t suit him he needs to play off another

 

This. But that doesn't make him a bad player. He's actually decent and gets into good positions. His finishing probably lets him down, but he will do a job in league 2/top of national.

 

I agree he should be able to pick up a club but he will have to be flexible with wages. He needs to be playing

 

Lower league football is littered with those 'there's a player there somewhere' type of player, Smith is one of them. 26 now and living off the back of a decent short spell at Swindon.

 

Not one loanee. yet.....well done City...

What makes you so sure of that? Think majority would say Pennington Wright and Tilt.
