It was interesting what he said about Bobby in his post match interview, he said that he challenged him to show him what he could do, and he was like a little bull dog, he had got hold of his chance and wouldn’t let go, fair do’s to him. GA looks and sounds like an honest man and I doubt his thought processes are singular. He probably did want to protect him from the booing and general negativity in the ground, but no doubt he had considerations. I think it has taken him long time to sort the wheat from the chaff.

 

Young Kav appears to be older than his years. He gave a great interview after the match. A growing captain if ever I saw one.

 

GA pretty much said after the game that he wants a team with players who give it their all in every game and not on spells. Think there will be some surprise departures next week.

We have to improve the quality available regardless of recent form and to do that players inevitably have to move on.

 

We beat Tranmere 2-0 over Easter with one of best performances of the season.

 

Well, I saved this until the end of the season, my prediction at the start of the season. At least there’s next season….

 

It’s still a 46.6% win ratio with just league games which is surely good enough to not be calling for his head as some of the more reactive fans are calling for.

Rupp Sparks Gent maybe Alexander perhaps

 

You know for me Smallwood has for large spells been ineffective.
He has that trademark over the shoulder without looking pass that 99% of the time goes to the opposition and comes back just as quickly.
GA has recently made a point of praising him so I guess we shall see.

Also Odour has been very in and out.

 

BP didn't need challenging to show what he could do 16k fans knew what he could do only GA had reservations
A big part of the booing was frustration at not even putting him on the bench I have my suspicions that a deal was on the table to take BP away from us in January thankfully it didnt happen
I don't dislike GA (there are a lot worse employees at the club) and managers out there however with BP I think he was wrong not playing him proven by the last few games ultimately costing us at worse a play off spot

 

I agree it probably cost us a playoff spot but show me a manager that has never made a mistake with team selection and I will show you a liar. GA is human and will make mistakes. I just don't get this thought process that football managers are infallible-they are not. GA has openly said he was wrong not to play him so let's move on.

Unlike MH, GA is open to accept he makes mistakes and wants to learn from them. A really humble man.

 

The cracks have been there all season for all to see, don't let the past month results plaster over them, likewise the owners letter. Let's be honest next year the club owner will be Rupp, CEO Sparks, Recruitment Gent Manager Alexander, team captain Smallwood, Walker injured 50% of the season and we expect the club to do better.

 

It has been very frustrating seeing Pointon for large parts of that season not even getting on the bench, and then when he did just shining the seat with his arse for 90 minutes. I don't think it would have changed the outcome of the season, we have too many other shortcomings, but it was clear early in the season that Pointon needed first team game time. Even looked like the lad might go out on loan in January.
We now have a number of younger players that hopefully a team can be built around, the likes of Pointon, Young, Kavanagh all need regular starts, throw in the likes of Sam Walker, Halliday, Andy Cook and there is a team in progress. The defence and central midfield needs work on it, i can see Smallwood still being a starter so a young mobile partner is a must, possibly a fit Pattison.

 

What about Sharp I am pinning a lot of hope on him ??

 

You must know him pretty well to know what a humble man he is
Agree everyone in every walk of life makes mistakes and generally learns from them (MKD springs to mind)
Am not for moving him on at least until changes at the very top take place that would be pointless but it took him a good while and our promotion/play off chances to realise BP should have been a regular starter
All managers have a stubborn streak our 2 previous managers are testament to that but I have to point the finger and say he was too slow to react in the case of BP

 

Yes, given GA's comments about Smallwood it would be a surprise if he left. I thought you were just talking about OOC players but if you are considering the whole squad, it wouldn't be a surprise to me to see us try and shift or send out on loan Oduor, Oliver, McDonald, Taylor, Richards, Wilson or even Smith.
